Finished reading this a few weeks back. Read the whole book in about a week. Wicked book about someone who goes from being basically scared of his own shadow, to being a feared and respected doorman in what was (at the time) supposedly the roughest city in Europe - Coventry (not sure how they qualified that - but it makes the story sound better )
It's written with a large dose of humour but has a lot of action. More than that though it charts how the author conquers his own fears and turns his life around, but then starts becoming something he doesn't like much... I wont tell you how it turns out tho...
In short a great examination of fear / violence. If you've been in many fights or confrontations (who me?!!? ) you should be able to relate to at least a bit of this. Very real.
WARNING - IF YOU'RE OFFENDED BY FAIRLY GRAPHIC VIOLENCE OR SWEARING - DON'T READ IT!
