There is NO KILLING sanctioned or commanded in the Quran!

© [Al-Hajj 22.78] And jahedo / you strive in (the way of) Allah as the right of jehad / Striving in (the way of) Him. He has chosen you and has imposed no difficulties on you in the Deen/judgment. Jihad is striving with one's soul in the 'way' that Allah has prescribed in the Quran

In striving in the way that Allah has prescribed in the Quran, one is striving to perfect their character and behavior, your Soul
Jihad has NOTHING to do with Fighting and War, the Arabic word for 'fighting' is Qatil, the arabic word for 'War' is Harb
You will NOT find anywhere in the Quran where Jihad is mentioned or even used in the same verse with Qatil (Fighting) or harb (War)
© [Al-Furqan 25.52] So you do not obey the rejecters and jahidhum / Strive against them with this (i.e. Al-Quran) that is the great jihad / Strive.
The GREAT or Best Jihad is striving with the Quran. Striving to apply it and implement the Quran that is Jihad
© [Al-Ma'idah 5.35] O' you who believe take guard of Allah and seek the means towards Him and jahidoo / you strive in His way so that you may prosper.

| The word Jihad stems from the Arabic root word J-H-D, which means "strive." Other words derived from this root include "effort," "labor," and "fatigue." Essentially Jihad is an effort to practice religion in the face of oppression and persecution. The effort may come in fighting the evil in your own heart, or in standing up to a dictator. Military effort is included as an option, but as a last resort and not "to spread Islam by the sword" as the stereotype would have one believe.

'Military' strategem is NOT mentioned as an option in the Quran in any way, shape form or fashion. Again, interpretation and opinion plague and cloud the true perception of guidance.
This is the 'military' strategem Allah suggests....
© [Al-Anfal 8.60] And for them you prepare by establishing the judgment of Allah through inspiration(Islam / Peace) , do not be oppressive and challenge one another and check your impulsiveness/remain calm, imagine/believe that you can strike terror/intimidate with [Al Islam]
© [Al-Anfal 8.61] And if they lower wings for Islam / Peace so you also lower the wings for it And you trust on Allah. Surely He is All hearing and All knowing.
The word Jihad or its roots are NOT mentioned in this ayah........
[Al-Anfal 8.62] Should they intend to deceive you,- verily Allah sufficeth you. He it is That has strengthened you with His aid and with (the company of) the Believers;
[Al-Anfal 8.64] O Messenger! sufficient unto you is Allah,- (unto you) and unto those who follow you among the Believers.
[Al-Anfal 8.65] O Prophets! rouse the Believers to the fight. If there are twenty amongst you, patient and persevering, they will vanquish two hundred. if a hundred, they will vanquish a thousand of the Unbelievers. for these are a people withoutunderstanding.
Again Jihad has NOTHING to do with fighting.....
Allah continues to illustrate the consequence of believing in fighting, warring and killing.....
[Al-Imran 3.13] "There has already been for you a Sign in the two armies that met (in combat). One was fighting in the cause of Allah, the other resisting Allah; these saw with their own eyes Twice their number. But Allah doth support with His aid whom He pleaseth. In this is a warning for such as have eyes to see."
Allah will support BOTH sides....to warn the Believers
[Al-Imran 3.165] What! When a single disaster smites you, although you smote (your enemies) with one twice as great, do you say?- "What is this?" Say (to them). "It is from yourselves. For Allah has power over all things."
Those who claim they fight and war, Allah is with them, Allah is illustrating that is NOT 'The Way of Allah' to attack and kill TWICE as many as those who brought disaster and destruction upon you.
[Al-Imran 3.166] What you suffered on the day the two armies Met, was with the leave of Allah, in order that He might test the believers,-
They still suffered as a result...thus there is no benefit in fighting, killing and warring
[Al-Imran 3.167] And the Hypocrites also. These were told. "Come, fight in the way of Allah, or (at least) drive." They said. "Had we known how to fight, we should certainly have followed you." They were that day nearer to Unbelief than to Faith, saying with their lips what was not in their hearts but Allah has full knowledge of all they conceal.
There are some Arabic grammatical insights in the previous ayah 3:167 as well. The ayah is referring to those who OPPOSSED the Messengers guidance over going out to fight and kill, whereby they still suffered a serious consequence for their actions and hypocrisy.
Thus afterwards now they are suggesting that If they would have listened to the Messengers guidance instead of running out to kill and fight, they would have been better.
[Al-Imran 3.173] Men said to them. "A great army is gathering against you". And frightened them. But it (only) increased their Faith. They said. "For us Allah sufficeth, and He is the best disposer of affairs."
Thus the Believer doesnt panic and run out to kill and destroy, they rely upon Allah's guidance
[Al-Imran 3.174] And they returned with Grace and bounty from Allah. no harm ever touched them. For they followed the good pleasure of Allah. And Allah is the Lord of bounties unbounded.
