Now I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God. Every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head. And every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head—it is just as though her head were shaved. If a woman does not cover her head, she should have her hair cut off; and if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut or shaved off, she should cover her head. A man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but the woman is the glory of man. For man did not come from woman, but woman from man; neither was man created for woman, but woman for man. For this reason, and because of the angels, the woman ought to have a sign of authority on her head.
~I Corinthians 11:3-10
A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent. 13For Adam was formed first, then Eve. And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. But women will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.
~I Timoth 2:11-15

I wouldn't say the bible is sexist, neither would I just use those few verses to make a blanket statement about the whole bible.
The bible is sexist if you look at the world through the eyes of this generation. The bible is sexist if you believe that God did not make this world. Its all a matter of view point.
Paul the apostle points to order... I do not see sexism in this writing, I see natural order. For one who believes in God, a man can no more boast that he is God's equal when clearly if he realises that he was made by God and came out of God. Paul mentions this and teaches the man who is head his.
He then turns to the creation story and points out to the man and the woman that woman came out of man. Now the quarrel is not really to do with this word sexism, the quarrel is do you believe in what God says.
p.s. The bible also teaches that the woman is the Glory of the man. Its not about putting the woman down its about acknowledging rightful place. In this age we live in, women want to say they are no different from a man..This thinking as given rise to woman who no longer have natural affections towards men and men who aare becoming more and more effeminate as each day passes. Mess with God's natural order and you'll see things start to spiral out of control. The weather is testament to what happens when we do not look after this big garden called earth that God gave us to look after and have dominion. In our greed we have rooted up but not planted and the earth is reviling against us. Play with God's order and see if it won't come back to bite us.
