1st of all...it's a hustle and there's no other way to put it! For those who are in the dark, I ask that you watch the movie Luther! In a sense, anytime that an individual is placed in a vulnerable position(going to heaven, death of a loved one/funeral homes) the controlling actor is in a position of power and can easily prey on that person.
I believe in God, but there's no way in hell that I need someone to serve as proxy to communicate on my behalf at a rate of 10%. Never have, never will!!!

Are Americans the only ones who go to church and burn money on pastors and priests all of a sudden? Dude you have an odd fixation on the yanks lol
Nuff African churches in my mannor robbing people blind weekly, who knows how many on the continent.
As BP says you don't need a middle man to commune with God or to be spiritual, but the spiritual yearning in most people is something which is communal and expressed best for them when shared. So they need to be with and around others to celebrate their sprirituality. That's why people "congregate" in numbers and go to church, mosque, temple in the first place. It's not that people need the books explained to them (though in majority cases that's what happens lol) but because they want to reaffirm their own belief in the intangible by being around other fervent believers. Doesn't explain why it should cost them to do so though.
