Yes Bishop, you will be missed, but your words came straight from God and I am fortunate to still get a chance to see some of your inspirational sermons. Heres a snippet from the presiding Bishop of Church of God in Christ, the late G.E. Patterson!!
Titled: Get ready for your miracle!!

Blizzy:
Yes he may rest in peace. Even though he was a preacher he was a good man. I had the honor of meeting him and he was a nice as people say he was genuinely. Ashamed that many people in his church are VERY uppity....... Kinda baffling almost.....
Still when he died last week, people came in from all over and they had basically his funeralS/viewingS all last week. The goofy part about this is that they did not accommodate all of the people that came from across the nation. A lot of people were turned away at the door who were trying to get into one of the many funerals.
Dignitaries came from far and wide to pay their respect.
The one thing that stood out about his niceness:
When he and his church gave a home to a Katrina evacuee whom later (as in a very short time) sold the home, everyone was pissed off about their sell of the home and spoke out. All except Patterson. I am not a member of COGIC and 99.9999% sure that I will never be a part of COGIC, but they lost a great man, not because of his pastoral position, but because he was a real man.

| I was told that their were close to 20,000 people who came in to view him on the first day alone(thursday). They had to turn away some people. It was too overwhelming. I'm sorry that you ran into some people that turned you away from COGIC. I'm in COGIC and I havent had that experience. Like you, I would run for the hills if I have any kind of bad vibes or negative situations, and I dont like uppity people either. I dont think they teach that in his church either. But so far in my 3 years, Ive met a bunch of beautiful people, and had the chance to come down to the last Convocation and hopefully will be there for the 100th anniversary. Don't get me wrong. I know a lot of good COGIC people, but I worked at a hotel after I got out of the service and I meta lot of COGIC people during the Convocation who were really ungodly like.
They were more into showing what they had than being Christian. Take for instance, you know how warm it usually is here in November most of the time. Usually in the 70s in the day time........ Why were some people wearing fur coats? ladies were literally ready to burst into flames in our high humid environment in 70 degree weather........ Caddys were every where........ Don't get me wrong, I can't blame people for wanting to look your best, but we got some of our worst treatment by church people. I guess you have to take the good with the bad.
I do have a feeling that now that he is dead the convocation is going to move away from Memphis which will cause a lot of job loss here in the hotel industry.

| Yeah, depending on who they bring in as the next Presiding Bishop. Right now, Bishop Blake is standing in. If he becomes the next in position, it may end up being in Cali....

I had the privallege of hearing the bishop preach through watching the God channel, and I found his messages very encouraging, no not always agreeing with everything he taught. He came accross as a man who was very genuine, committed to his faith and to being direct and frank with people. I am not surprised his passing away is so mourned, has had some rare qualities as a human being.
