| Sometimes i get so sick of being a black woman in this society. If it's not some dumb ass conversations about light-skin vs. dark-skin, weaves, baby fathers, interracial dating then there is no conversation. Let's talk about how our black community is falling apart due to our ignorance and lack of self love for our people. We are such petty people we don't see how we give white people the power we possess. Our music, our culture, our beauty, our everything is copied, sold, and bought by these people yet we still feel the need to debate amongst ourselves about dumb sh*t. Let's talk about the real. Sometimes i just feel like what's the point of being in this society. I'm in america where everyone wants to be white but in turn really want to be black with white benefits. I go to Africa where people there think of white people as their gods and try to be like them with bleach creams. Where is the love? Why can't we as people get it together and pull each other in, instead of stepping on each other's toes. They've trained us well. Im an African in a society where if you call a Jamican an african they get offended, or since my name is african to be made fun of or no sort of attempt to pronouce it correctly, yet most white people do. I don't get black people any more. Im an 1980s kid and sometimes I wish I was born in the 70's where black people had soul, stood for something and were black and proud. It's Just My Thoughts! So the title of this topic was really a misnomer. you are not really sick of being black. you are sick of the attitudes of certain black people. Just to qualify your statement. I am also sick of the attitudes of certain black people, but i do not generalize. I know the same we have some ignorant idiots, but we have just as many intelligent, thoughtful hard working ones who want to make a change and find solutions. I could never be sick of being black. On my worst days i sometimes think its the only good thing about me!!

@ Drunk
@R101
I don't know what this is about. ..but several things come to mind after reading your thoughts .....
This is one of the saddest posts I have ever read at an All-African site.
Our ancestors caught hell as do many of our present day people around the world...and not one of them are on record as saying they wish they were anything but....
Plus there are many of us doing our thang, ...raising healthy families, running our own businesses, working hard for a living, despite the many challenges we face because of who we are, without entertaining YOUR kind of thoughts....
....and you have the cheek to come here talking about how conversations about weaves, and skin tone are making you sick of being a black woman!
Shame on you!

| If the moderators have sorted out arrogant whiteys in this black forum impersonating black in the first place, stupid thread like this one would not had existed, would it? These people should not be given any breathing space to promote white supremacy over Blacks. Delete their postings/threads a.s.a.p otherwise they will keep coming in large numbers. | What are u talking about obal85. I am a black 24 year old female that deals with this ignorance on a regular basic. This is how I am treated. This is what I experience and these are the kind of conversations I hear all the time. I mean I'm not really sick of being black that was to harsh of a statement i just wanted to get my point across but I am sick of us not building each other up.

What are you going to do to "change the game"? I'm from the Y generation (1980's) as well. Instead wishing what you weren't why don't you change the game, surround yourself with blacks that think like you do, make others rise to your level. You gotta set the example instead of expecting others to change first. You feel me?

As in the Matrix; it is not the spoon that bends it is your mind, change has to come from within expecting others to change is like expecting a stone to say I love you. If you change others will see it and some will follow suet.

I agree with you as well, but..............
@All
Enough with this 'I'm sick of being Black blah blah' or 'Whites are better than Blacks lardy lardy' or 'Light-Skinned Blackies and more attractive than Dark-Skinned ones yardy yardy yar'.
All we do is cuss, cuss and more cussing without sitting down, thinking and ACTUALLY DOING SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
Our race is one of the MOST beautiful feature in this World and a majority of us neglect this and be negative towards us as a while because of a large group of individuals.
Times are wasting while our generation is going down hill, and as the next generation enters this World, they will be rolling down mountains faster than anything we know..........
.............all I am saying is WE as a people need to get into certain positions and places of POWER and TRY our HARDEST to get our people into a better status and then our children will be able to advance from us and go a stage further.
Enough is enough NOW and the clock is ticking fast!
Who agrees with me and has got some decent suggestions?!

Realistic 101,
Have you really every stop to think about what you are really saying or thinking?
realistic101: “we don't see how we give white people the power we possess. Our music, our culture, our beauty, our everything is copied, sold, and bought by these people
That along should tell you that we possess something that they wish that they had… You have come up with a generation of kids who was really bum- bared with white faces. Telling you that this is how you should look. Anything that looks white is right.
Sometimes I can’t blame my fellow African Americans for falling for their white men and women. When that’s all that is thrown in their face. Go to any store and look at the magazine rack. What do you see?
Some thin blue or brown eyed white woman posed half naked, telling us that this is what we should look like.
It’s only been of late that you can look at this same rack and see some of our kind staring you back in the face. And what does she look like… Light skinned, thin nose and lips. And when you do see a dark skinned lady her hair is almost as straight as a white woman’s…
I don’t know about you, but when I comb “my hair it’s nothing like that
What we really have to do is look back over our ancestors. You had the house slave and the field slave… The house slave, “which, nine out of ten times was the slave owners child was treated better then the field slave. And that mentality of light being better then dark has been and still is being passed down the line even into our generation.
There are some people who would say that slavery was well over 400 years ago and that we should just let it go. But we can’t… If one would just do the math. They would see that four hundreds years would put us into the fourth or fifth generation of people, depending on how long your people lived; you might be the third generation. And that mentality has been passed on down the line… SO to those people I say WAKE UP!!!!!
Don’t hate being black… hate that, that keeps your people blinded and miss-guided

Aneki,
Personally, I think that as a whole, we have to stop glamorizing the white folk. And break that mentality that light skinned is better than dark skinned and see the beauty in our dark skinned men and women, big lips, nose, butt and all. However I do have to stay realistic in this statement (they all have to be well portioned) ugly is just ugly. White, Black, Brown, or Yellow.
Stop feeding into our own race jokes… I’m not saying lose your humor, but we all know that dark joke, or nappy headed one.
Lose the attitude that we seem to have with each other…
Smile and say hi when we look at each other in the eye
Afro-American-Man wrote “change has to come from within “
I agree with him. I also believe that change comes within the family. You can’t say that I love being black but tell you kids not to date one of dark skin or say I’m glad my child didn’t come out dark.
But first and foremost, we have to lose that mentality of our ancestors

| We have to learn to love ourselves. The problem with skin lightening is in JA. Too many of us are dying 2 the hands of our own race, coz we hate each other. 2 many of us are going out with white people because we think they`re better looking than people from our own race.We need to stop, learn our history and learn to love ourselves. We have let white people become billionaires off us while we only made peanuts. We have to wake up and realise only we as a people can stop this

You know what, people talk about loving and respecting ourselves and be proud of black folk, but how are some black people showing that they are proud...
by producing conflict with other blacks such as creating gangs/crews promoting misplaced arrogance, resulting in gun violence and dislike within our own race.
Who was it that started the rubbish about lightskinned Vs darkskinned, whoever it was, that person should be slapped and also the people who promote it.
You know what, change comes from a choice that is followed through by actions. This is what is needed to make a difference look at the woman Rita who decided not to sit at the back of bus, This aided a whole revolution and a change in society 's views!
Promote and encourage people to talk about real things and soon you will realise that they will!

| Any ignorant idiot who still thinks like that in 2004 (nearly 2005) really needs to ask themselves some serious questions. What justification is there for the 'light = better' mentality? Are they better looking? No, you get ugly and attractive in both groups. Are they more intelligent? No, you get intelligent in both groups. Are they nicer people in general? No, you get nice and nasty in both groups. Who ever said that whoever started it needs a slap is damn right. Ironically, this mentality didn't start with black people at all!! I can't believe that some of us allow people who have nothing to do with us define who we are several hundred years later!! does the 'brain washing' really run that deep in them? So glad i was raised RIGHT!

taken from the Willie Lynch letter "How to make a slave" 1712 AD
"The Black Slave, after receiving this indoctrination, shall carry on and will become self refueling and self generating for hundreds of years, maybe thousands. Don’t forget, you must pitch the old black male vs. the young black male, and the young black male against the old black male. You must use the dark skin slaves vs. The light skin slaves, and the light skin slaves vs. the dark skin slave. You must use the female vs. the male, and male vs. the female. You must also have all your white servants and overseers distrust all blacks but it is necessary that your slaves trust and depend on us. They must love, respect and trust only us."
There's more where this came from. I add this to this debate to show just how DEEP this sh*t go'es, almost 300yrs. If I can post this letter unedited on here I will. Replace the plantation owner with todays boss boy, and you can see for your self where you work it go'es on right now. DIVIDE and RULE
