PEOPLE TEND TO FRONT AS IF THEY DONT 'JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER'. But anyways, if i see a guy in baggy clothes and jerseys and long metal danglin from his head, my stomach turn.
His personality could be a winner, but its a shame i wont get to know for real.

Not at all, all it represents is a few different artistic taste's that I have. Nothing about my personality. Although, I have been questioned about wearing a few small items.
If your clothing represents who you are, then you have a problem. Another thing though, in our society people judge people on their looks, this is natural. So if you don't want to be stereotyped a gangster, pull your pants up just a little

| It's their to change your perception, somehow identify you to a type of group in the society... that's why you have uniforms, lil teenagers wearing hoodies to front that they are thugs etc.. so yeah it does represent part of who you are..

my clothes reflect what i can afford!
when i go shoppin i have to compromise my style because im a broke student but i think short skirts/tops with cleavage send out an universal message. i always wonder why girls will dress like that and then complain when men look at them like a piece of meat.

I got a wide range of clothes from hip hop gear to smart casual to suits. I dress according to the occasion but it only reflects my personal tastes.

| I would say they do, because your appearance says alot about you but at the same type if your dressed sterotypically then they may not neccessarily represent you.

| My clothes reflect my personal taste, which has changed over the years. I don't know if I would say that everything I wear is a representation of my true identity, though. It is kind of hard to represent something as complex as an identity with a few pieces of cloth. Last edited on Saturday May 20th, 2006 02:30 by Aryek

no it doesn't..
I agree with girl24,in that it reflects only as far as I can afford..given free reign to run riot in my shops of my choice with no spending limit,I think then and only then can we get to representing my true identity!

Dont know about tru identity but they definatley offer a window into how they wish others to view them. Tru identity indirectly maybe.
Even if stricken with abject poverty or unimaginable riches the above holds true.

i dont think it truly defines who you are or your identity, cuss when i was in my teens i tried to fit into these thugish sterotypical dresses and all that crap when deep down i did not like it, . i just wanted to fit in just like most teens do now. wen i was 19 that crap changed. now all that is way gone outta the window but. alotta confused people i knew that time still do that crap till they 27 . white people only like to see the sterotipcal blk man. wen i wear a suit better than thiers i get some kinda annoying stares till date.
someone said humans are shallow we only see what we wana see isnt it. im also shallow cuss i dont walk with some fool with his pants sagging and a durag.

No way. I know some pathetic people in my college who wear their personalities on their labels. Take one girl for example, as soon as she puts her only Nike tracksuit on and comes to college she puts on this whole "Look at me an die" act, but then when she wears her pink clothes with the claire's accessories still accessories she wants to try the whole sweet girl act? Nah mate.
It ain't really practical to judge someone based on the clothes they wear as so many people unfortunately change their personalities according to what they wear. In some cases, this is normal..for example if you're feelin happy and chirpy you may opt to wear brightly coloured clothing or wear clothes you wouldn't normally wear...whereas if you're feelin low or whatever you might catch yourself wearing funeral style clothes.
I don't think (in most cases) that clothes actually do represent your true identity.

If that were true, then there are a lot of posers as of the advent of Rap-Pop. I think clothing has become a form of self-expression, but a lot people dress according to what everybody else is wearing, that is when I think it is no longer a form of self-expression and becomes a "social uniform", something worn to "fit in". I don't think clothes could ever completely represent a person's identity, it should just reflect people's taste by wearing what one likes just because one likes it, but for some younger people, they are driven and influenced more by the media and their peers (the external) than the internal.

| what you think ... and speak out to the world, resonates a truth within, echoing out to all others who have ears and conceive the message. This is what trully represents our true identity, because even when stripped of all clothes we posses the power to reflect and in turn speak out mind!!! - MauMau Shabbaz
