I'm a young female, with not much of a social life (and not that many friends now I think about it - how sad am I???) and it's actually starting to grind on me.

When I was younger there were so much things to do, but now all my life consists of, is going to work and sleeping. When I get a day off work, I have nothing to do so I end up sleeping or sitting on the net.

On my way home from work, I hear young girls on the bus talking about the events that took place the previous day or the events that are about to take place. I've noticed that there is a lot more to do as a teenager than there is for young adults, like myself. There were summer events that I used to attend, for example Burgess park for the day youth clubs which lasted for a month. But now there is nothing.

Does anybody else feel the same way?

Or does anybody have any ideas of things to do for females in the age range of 21 - 30 (where money is NOT a necessity)?

Please help, cos my boredom is killing me.

Do you work 7 days a week?

We work to live, we dont live to work... you have to remember that.

What happened to your friends from school?  What are they doing in their spare time?

To meet people you have to go where people go.

How about taking up a hobby?  going to the gym?  getting involved in school activities? church activities? volunteering? being a mentor (big sis)?

I felt like this last summer @ adeola

Infact, evrything you said ( apart from the friends part) applied to me word for word

You work, so you have money. Take up a a martial art, learn a new skill oin eveng class, take up a sport. go to a poetry.spoken word stuff. I ddi all this and met people in all of them, dont really speak to any of threm too tough but thats a diffreent story

Best bet is to pick up Time Life for £2.95 in the newsagents and plan your day from there

Ppl have already given u sound advice so I dont have much to add...but I just wanted to comment on this. You said: Adeola wrote: I'm a young female, with not much of a social life (and not that many friends now I think about it - how sad am I???)

I have friends, but I dont keep many friends and I like it that way. Nothing wrong with not having a world of friends. The friends I do have I have known for ages and can trust them with anything, I would rather have 3 extremely close friends than 20 friends that I can never count or rely on. Never worry urself about the QUANTITY of friends u but the QUALITY. :D

What type of friends do you want, what type of activities do you want to engage in?

You need to know what you want, then you need to work at it. How are about being nice to people who you want to be friends with, talk to them and say something nice. You have to show yourself as a lovable person before you can receive love from people. Going to events also helps, ie joining a Gym, Church activities like house fellowship etc.

What happened to your school friends, even your cousins or family friends? you can chill with these people and through them you will get to know someone else.

Goodluck, and ofcourse you have Blacknet.

Okay, maybe I shouldn't have mentioned the lack of friends. That was actually supposed to be a bit of a joke, but I think it was taken a bit too seriously - LOL. I have a few close friends and a few friends and a few acquaintances.  I just think that having a few more acqauaintances would be nice, but its not the be all and end all. I love the friends I have and am very happy with the quality of friends I have.

The main thing I was getting at was my social life, me and my friend wanted to do something on Friday (as it going to be 24 degrees - HOORAY), but hadn't a clue what to do, which prompted me to write this post. We decided to have a picnic in the local park, but figured that we need a lot more ideas for other days.

I will buy that magazine and see what its saying.

Thanks for all the replies though.

Okay then you aren't really lonely maybe slightly lazy. I have the opposite problem,  to much to do too little time.... grrrrr! i guess we both need to learn to manage time better.

Anyways if you need place to go this Sunday i recommend Poetry in motion at the Loop, Oxford Circus.  Check out http://www.ukfridays.com for more info.

It gets real packed so i suggest you arrive early.

@DSP

Its similar to five dollars, (except its a note). I think you have a five dollar note in the U.S. don't you?

Adeola, why not let your interests steer you towards finding something to do rather than than searching without some reason or foundation.

What are you about, what is your background, what are your passions etc etc ?  Let an introspective view of yourself guide you ?  I think you need to define who you are and allow that to guide you.

By the way do you mind me asking how old you are ?

There must be things that you're passionate about or have an interest in ?

I do know what you mean adeola.

In terms of things to do just to hang out - its tough, unless you're in to wine bars, and poetry nights. Those all dayers back int he day were wicked, but it seems that they don't really exist for adults.

How about taking up salsa, thats fun, also A group called consortium, run the lounge which is a hang out for adults, where people chill, play games and listen tomusic, its fun!

You really have to search things out sometimes!
