It is perhaps the only way to isolate which value is more important to a man. We all want the best mix we can find of both qualities good looks and personality, but to answer the question of which is more important to a man (which comes up quite often here at BNV), then I feel it must be done this way to say which is truly more valued by a man.
By the way, even if guys don't find Naomi that attractive, most find her far more appealing than Latifah so it is still a good comparison for the aforementioned purposes.

no disrespect Shemsi, but this thread is kind of pointless. Male or female, folks tend to be shallow. No one is going to choose a fat or ugly nice girl/guy when they can have someone attractive regardless of their personality.
Its only after a few times of being burned by pretty girl/pretty guy types who turn out to be nasty that people start looking a lil deeper at the choices they make. And by then they are probably in their mid thirties with the benefit of maturirty experience and hind sight and looking for more then eye/are candy in a relationship.
Of course you will always get the sad old git still chasing the pretty skirt, but now he needs to flash the cash or be seen in a nice car. Similarly you get women in their 40's acting/dressing like young women in their 20's still chasing the pretty boy types!!
Plus few people will gladly admit to being shallow!!

I don't exactly get why being attracted to somebody makes you "shallow".
It's something we seem to accept without thinking about it. We are designed to be attracted to attrative people. Fighting that is like deciding not to breathe.
MB the idea you're inevitably going to be "burned" by good looking people is silly. In fact I think I've met far more viscious and abusive unattractive individuals than the opposite.
You present a two dimensional weird view that a man is going to go through life childishly being amused by a series of evil attractive women and then grow up to be all mature and clever and decide that personality is all that counts then settle for a cheerful sweet good as gold, heart of the nation, fat ugly person. I mean please!!

my post wasn;t specifically aimed at men. I was talking about both male and female.
And when i say "shallow" i should clarify: I am talking about the folks who are ONLY attracted to people for what they look like, regardless of whether or not they are a "good" person (however you want to define good). Pehaps i am generalising but it is ostly young people who tend to think that way, though, as i also stated in my last post, it happens with older folks too.
Nuttin wrong with being attracted to an attractive person. But when you seek to have a "relationship" with someone based strictly on how good they look on your arm, then IMO opinion, that would make the person shallow.
Of course you have just as many nasty unattractive people as you do nice attractive people. If anything, some unattractive people tend to be "nasty" as they are reacting in bitterness to the way they are treated for being unattractive. In the same way, some attractive people will not bother being nice as they know they will always get what they want as people will initially act favourably towards them.
I know i present a simplistic view, but that is just my style. I have a tendancy to break everything down to its simplist form and be honest about how i see things.

People have a right to be attracted to who they want to. We ALL have a preferance and thats a perfectly natural part of life. I'd be lying if I said I didn't have my own preferences when it comes to attraction.

following on from that (and highjacking Shemsis thread ) which would you choose to have a long term (as in death do you part) relatioship with:
1) An attractive fat woman/man
2) an unattractive slim woman/man
And you can't say "the fat woman/man coz s/he will lose weight". Note: The fat woman/man will remain fat throughout your relationship!!! (also please note, when i say "fat" i am not speaking ridiculous Big Pun proportions!!!)

And by then they are probably in their mid thirties with the benefit of maturirty experience and hind sight and looking for more then eye/are candy in a relationship.
Of course you will always get the sad old git still chasing the pretty skirt, but now he needs to flash the cash or be seen in a nice car. Similarly you get women in their 40's acting/dressing like young women in their 20's still chasing the pretty boy types!!
Plus few people will gladly admit to being shallow!!
I disagree, and the reason why has already been demonstrated at least once where Stickup-Kid already said he would pick the Queen over Naomi.

following on from that (and highjacking Shemsis thread ) which would you choose to have a long term (as in death do you part) relatioship with:

A grown woman will never lose the weight if she is obese...if you have any personal trainer friends, they will tell you the truth. They just take fat girls' money to train them knowing 99% of the time they will never be thin. Considering that, I would go with #2...an unattractive slim woman!!!

alot of these women will KNOW they will never be "thin" in terms of a size 10 or less (which i think translates to 8 or less in US sizes) and are just looking to be toned/have a better shape or just be fitter.

Most will never be a healthy body-fat percentage either. I'm not talking down to a size 3 or anything like that, but just a healthy weight for their body-type. Most trainers I know say women have to about 28. If they don't have their act together by then, then you can chalk it up.

again, these women probably don;t care about their body fat percentage, just looking better in their jeans lol the only people who really obsess about those things are people who are already slim, or people who don;t have that much weight to lose.

To be honest, I would have to give the nasty pretty-slimmy girl a try first. I would probably have to crash and burn with a half dozen before considering the nice fat chick. The relationship really isn't going to be about anything if I am not aroused.
