MB - I've got some older friends 42+ just beginning to make something worthwhile out of this life and you know what is the common theme with with this trend.....a good woman made them face up to their serious weaknesses and inadequacies.
The reality is the individual will be chased out of town as common opinion means safety in numbers.

The truth is not everybody can and will ever be satisfied so you respect the law of the land, the culture, the elder or whatever structure is in place or get the hell out. Or make sure you've got some money as enough of it means you can make your own rules - it's why millionaires become politicians - just make sure you know the consequences with respect to your people.
A real man will never fail to give his women props when it is due. If anything he's a man becasue of her. As a man, if you've made nothing in life and for your community, check your breed of woman. Got too many women thinking it's a trophy we are after.

| well, see thats my point. You say people shuld "respect the structure/law of the land or get out" as they will be run out for going against common opiion anyway. But don;t you think that is the problem with some of our communities? don't you think there are alot of folks out there who may think things like "i want to help my community, but they either don't acknoledge they need the help or bite the hand that feeds them" so nobody does anything. My original point was that community leaders do not necessarilly need to be men. They just need to have the drive and commitment to push through with positive changes, regardless of the nay sayers trying to maintain the status quo. After all, they want to keep it because it benefits them and to hell with how it affects anybody else.

| "Alone" as an organisation, maybe. But it is an organisation made up of alot of people, not just one individual. Would you propose one large umbrella organsation for the betterment of our communities or several smaller ones? Personally, i'm not sure which would work best thugh at "grass roots" level people would be better able to address specific needs, whereas a larger organisation may actually be able to make some kind of political move. Maybe a combination of both?

MB - I think an umbrella group focussed on the common things between discontiguous groups would be good but then the means to the end between those groups would have to be the same even though they all have their own individual way and belief in the methods they use to reach that end....but above all it's the trust to know the intention of all groups involved especially the umbrella group is genuine.
The only problem we have is not enough f us want to put in the time and effort without some kind of financial reward because that is where our focus is not the smile on our childrens faces.
If it were that simple logistically, the Pan Africanist movement would have cracked it y now.

Whats the secret? Its no secret. After black men are constantly judged according to white values.. hence "he's too "ghettto".. maening hasnt got enough white mannerisms/ not professional enough (meaning he doesnt have a job title they can fawn over".. run to police and white power structures i.e courthouse and social services to solve internal family problems..not enough black fathers (as if it absolves them of their own mistakes in picking up the latest hoodlum to breed with) etc etc.
Any women who expresses the above/ values white male power structures above anything black men can and do build. Unfortunately there are all too many of them around. Henece many black women in the West would scorn living in the Carribean or Africa because its too far from the norm of white values and power structures. Speak to most brothers and they would jump at the chance.

BP with the exception of one, the conses fro the few women who have responded to this thread has been "No, we don;t thin the white man is better than the black man". Will you not be happy until some says otherwise? You have already said that you personally do not know any Black women who hold this view, so which point are you trying to prove and for what purpose?
If this thread had been "Do Black men secretly think that White women are better than Black women" it would have been ocked long time.
In my own personaly experiene i have seen alot more Black men IR dating than i have Black women. And those men are usually never backward in coming forward about what they find wrong in Black women. o i guess they do not "secretly" think white women are better - they think it publicly lol
Seems Black women are damned if they do and damned if they don't.

I like this post but I think this has more to do with our conditioning making us believe that all this caucasian are better than African more than the women believing their men are better or men believing their women are better. It is more a collective Caucasian is better stance that these people usually take. I have met some people who think in this way and you are right it is all too prevelent in our community but this is a conditioned response to the world usually and not really a preference. These same women will continually go after African men despite the engrained stereotypical image they have been fed. But I get what you're saying.
I would like to hear your take on how we should go about removing this conditioning to all things western because I believe that this is one of the main causes of this discussion even having to be bought up.

| Incognito, i know nothing of stats for marriage of Black couples V White couples so i would not venture an opinion on it. But there are some who think that white folks are more likely to get married (and consequenty divorced!! But then, no one seems to take marriage seriously these days). Like i say, it depends if a woman is simply looking to get married or if having a relationship with one of her own ethnicity is more important. I am not desperate to play "here comes the bride" so i could not care less either way.

BP,White men have more overall power......but we know how they achieve and sustain this.........and the fact is that women of all races are attracted to power....so there may be the perception that they are better because of this power structure.
However,this has been so for centuries and I have yet to witness Black woman abandoning Black men in droves,trickles yes,but no mass exoduses as I have seen the other way round.

LOL@ abandoning, truth is white men have had easy access to black women for centuries and seems to be much more willful on the black females part these days. Couple this with too many black men being disillusioned(sp?) and acting overly happy to get the lower caste of other ethnic groups. Very sad.
