Wahl is supposed to be good. But I bought an Andis trimmer (T-Edjer II) a week or so ago. Set me back a bit, but proving worth it so far. Once you adjust the setting on it, you'll get a really close trim...
...but let's see what other guys use and recommend.

I have tried quite a few that simply dont cut it lol...
I think Wahl works best with our curly hair. I had a few different makes but none cut well and some dont even cut at all....

I use a Wahl, same one for over 10 years, Although I have replaced the blades. If you buy any shaver of the types used by the barbers' ensure that both blades can adjust flush with each other, otherwise you will never get a clean shave.
I no longer let the barbers trim my beard, they have no feelings, they scratch up my neck too much!
Oh, I use Clinique's electric shave primer, it works for me.

The ones the barbers use some of them get from Ebay. So next time youre in there ask them the name as i cant remember.
Once you get it you have to get it set properly so it cuts good

Kat,
I've used all sorts of Trimmers, Wahl beard shavers are okay, Oster is crap but I feel the real quality shavers come from Andis. I like the Styleliner II. With any one you purchase you gotta always brush the excess have and keep it oiled if you want it to cut nice.

| I find that trimmed beards look weird. Almost artificial. Just shave it all off and grow it back naturally.

Well I just received my Andis T Outliner but I don't think it likes UK voltage/hertz as they too loud and are not running properly (chattering), even with a transformer.
So to all who are hyping the Andis T in the UK.....what setup are you running it on?

| Don't use them to the plug directly thats dangerous. Andis outliners are made in america whose standard is 110 V , here in england the standard output is 240V. You will need to get whats called a step down transformer it costs about £10 . Its dangerous using Uk voltage on american voltage . Theres step down transformers are available on ebay

Thats the point. I have a step down, and it's not running well at all.
What do you run yours on a standard step down, or a regulator?
