I loved RPGs back in the day. Got into them with Castlevania and Zelda. When Zelda Link to the past that game was one of the greatest of this genre then it was outdone by Secret of Mana which changed the way these games are till this day.
Secret of mana was Final fantasy 3 I think but that (on Snes) was a perfect game in terms of length difficulty, storyline, music and fun.
The games were ruined on Playstation and playstation 2 by the constand FMVs and the fact that you watch most of the game instead of playing them. Also they are overlong and overpretty while the fun factor is gone.
That being said Im currently playing X men Legends which has a game engine based on the final fantasy series but with the Marvel universe and X men characters. Much better, far less FMVs far more action

| cool. Zelda's great. I used to one of the games on the super nintendo. Ive only played a few of the Final Fantasy games but FFX does have A LOT of movie clips to watch lol.

FFX and FFX-2 are my faves
prefer FFX though FFX-2 was slightly weak IMO

| is that game xmen legends that good? i saw the preview and i might be buying that game soon, i heard the screen during game play isnt that good though. only an up to down view.

Its good! One of the best RPGs Ive played in years. Very true to the story and old classic plotlines and the gameplay is very good.
Thats not true about the screen, its not Ninja scroll or Shinobi on the Sega master system LOL Its a good game trust me

| My favorite one would have to be 9. I mean, the guy has a tail, how much better can you get ^_^ lol... I really like the way the storyline is laid out in 9, and the ending, it's my favorite out of ANY game. I'd have to say it's better than the ending to 8. I've played almost all the plastaytion ones, but now my ps2 refuses to read ps1 games. T_T so, anyway, I think 9 is awesome ^^ though 8 is pretty good too...

8 was ok not as good as 7 though...

i'll say final fantasy 7 the musics they story the fmvs the graphics the gameplay all was heavy.
they the sequal is coming out as a movie but its only gona be 70 minutes long dou u know japan they aint good at making fantasy action movies. but ff7 has a proper heavy storyline. and its similar to whats happening now. you know shinra the enemy governemtn in the game are basically the police in england blair and bush using propaganda to get rid of there enemies.
but what drunk monkey said its ture the movies scenes in the game just mash up the fun. i mean the ff10 is meant to be a game not a movie

I have played ff3 FF7 8 9 and X they will never get me to buy X-2 and i have no time in my life for MMorpgs so 11 is out.
Secret of mana was a totally different universe from FF series. Thats probably the best of the lot that ive played.
I played the original SOM on the snes and learned japanese to play SOM2 damn good looking game but I never finished it.
the creator of the original series is comming out with a new game and has moved away from square enix and started a new company so hopefully they will get some innovation up in this genre. its stagnated for 5 games now. they need to get back some freshness they brought with ff7.
ahh must stop balling out gamesdevs. sorry force of habit.

boy FF is dry now. sinse part 10. but theres no other decent rpgs coming out.
um wait online RPGs are good tho, I got that FFonline it wernt bad and Ragnorok online is decent.
My fave is final fantasy 6 8 9 in that order. & is good but story was a lil dry plus squall's pretty cool
fave RPGs are crono trigger, zenogears, Arc the lad,Suikoden 2

I been an RPG junkie for years.lol
I've played all FF games except for FFX-2. After playing FFX, the thought of a sequal didn't sound like a good idea.
My favorites would have to be FF8 and FF11(online). FF8 has the best story and alot of freedom to do and go whereever you wanted, whenever you wanted. FF11 is the online MMORPG I've ever played and will probably be my last. lol I got addicted and it was tooooooooooooo fun.  I might start back playing sometime next year when I get my shyt together.
