For the cats who care, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is comin' out later this year. It's gangland style. And get this, the main character might be a brother. This is causing some racist eruptions to some fans who are not comfortable with the fact that the main character is a black man. Ain't that some sh*t?

What's wrong with you people?? does everything have to be so serious?
Im personally glad he's black as will make it more relevant to me playing the game. I've enjoyed this series so much before and I know this will be heavy.
And by the way of course the white man was a gangster! he was spar with corrupt Jewish lawyers, Italian mafia, triads, Haitian gangs, Yardies, Yakuza and all sorts through the series and I enjoyed working for all of them. I blew up police stations commited mass murder on crackheads, trashed lord only knows how many cars and I shot black, white everyone in my way!
This is a mindless game for those of us who want to pretend to shoot people to bits at random, take money from pimps, steal cars and be criminals at home lol! theres nothing highbrow here, just boys fun.

i didnt know u play games...
initially...
i got both when they came out..
but i just didnt feel grand theft auto...
i just didnt feel the idea of going around.. and beating up people for a bad cause...
stealing cars... nah... didt appeal to me.. i gave away my 2 copies...
dont get me wrong i love violent games... but when the character im using is kisckin ass for a good reason..
but sayin that.. the pics from the new ones look tough...
if this game is comin from an angle where the character has to defend himself against rival gangs... or attack rival gangs then ok...
mmmm i can live with that..
but if its like the others where u can just go up to a granny.. and kick the sh*t out of her.. till she dies..
and also bad computer ai..
whereas when u do somethin serious... the polica can find u .. no matter where u hide...
and one i remeber once i was playin.. and i went behind a wall .. and the polica car kept ramming.. againt the wall till it blew up...
actually come to think of it.. i found those game... mind numblingly crap...
give me metal gear solid
anyday..

Lucas: yep I play games not as much as I used to admittedly..got a bit bored with the PS2.. I'm thinking about buying an X box.. or maybe waiting for the next generation of games consoles to materialise..
FYI Lucas I've had a Spectrum, Amstrads, an Atari, Nintendos X 2 and now a PS2...
I've got Metal gear solid and I didn't like that game one bit.. I loved Medal of honour, and red faction & Gran tourismo..

I've got mixed feelings about it, I know this is gonna be an absolutely HEAVY game, I tempted to Pre-order it (I lot of my frinds already have), but on the other hand I thinks its gonna be another Menace II Society/Boyz II Men: obviously exploting poor blacks for their own monetary gains, worsening the sterotypes of the black man (bearing in mind the last GTA was on of the highest-selling games ever).
I've been on some Video games froums and you get a few white racists who just can't except the fact the main character's a black man and say there gonna hack the game with their PC and change him to a white guy (which I think is quite funny),

man. how can you not like metal gear solid... easily one of the best games ever... that sh*t even touches on free masonry.. and the world head leaders...
verry graphically polished... gamplay excellent... storyline titanium strong...
compared to crappy.. grand theft auto... that game is one of the worst games i have ever played... the graphics suck.. the computer ai is nil..im into computing.. and trust me.. i dont know how the programmers.../ testers allowed this game to have such a sh*t ai..
i mean u can stand on top of the of a police car.. and that car will drive as normal... that is complete sh*te...
and i just dont get the appeal of kickin a granny to death and takin her money...
sayin that the new one looks a bit more polished.. hopefully they have taken care of the compter ai's glaring faults from its predecessors...
trust me kunjufu.. try playin metal gear solid 2... through to the end.. it is truly a well put together game... my recommendation...
and yeah ive been playin games from waaaaaaay back in the 80's
atari.. nintendo.. super nintendo.. etc...etc

right, well i'm a massive fan of the Grand Theft series. i clocked the second one a week after it came out (because i spent a week playing it non-stop during my dissertation period,lol) so i know about the series and i feel its about time they had a black man as a man character.
in the sceond grand theft, they had a black man playing a supporting role but there is nothign wrong with a black man playing a gangland role as in the first one, they had a alot of italians playing mafia roles and in the second one, they had a lot of colombians and cubans playing drug dealer roles so, i guess, the boys at rockstar are playing with a lot of stereotypes and making games out of it.
its no complaint that the black man is playing a gangland role because, its just a game first of all so its SUPPOSED TO BE FUN BB (relax sista) and two, this is a game from which you can sleep with prostitutes, rob pimps, kill police, rob old people and jack cars so its not like it was politically correct to begin with.

I disagree, Ghettopoly was a direct piss take on blacks and black culture alone. The white peception of black culture anyway.
Yes GTA reinforces negative stereotypes, but it does this about all races because the game is about society as a whole not just the black community. Im sure Italian Americans don't like being portrayed in that way either (look how they moaned about the sporano's) or Police don't like to be protryaed as corrupt as its bad for their image. Everybody looks bad on GTA and the jokes on all of us.
This new GTA is the fifth in a series and the first time in the series that we can actually BE the black lead character instead of shooting him or just making alliances with him. Im all for it.

the last so many grand theft auto games were all bout makein as much money as possible and doing whatever it takes to get that money in thugish gangster ways. theyve done it in diff areas each game now theyve moved it to LA there doin a game based on gangs in LA at the end of the day the game is wicked i dont care if the main man black white asian or a dike i dont care aslong as the games good...
and like i said i read u can make ur own character

I hate this game with a passion. I can't believe I wasted money on it. The First one was better.
I only really brought the darn thing because I think the talk radio stations are comedy genius. But now I find out that you actually have to unlock parts of the game to get more radio content.
Therefore the game is crap. The constant swearing grates on my ears too much as well.
Another thing I noticed about this game is the number of mothers I spotted buying this game for their kids.
