Due to be released around christmas period at a whopping £550, I am wondering if any you guys are contemplating on purchasing one at this price when it comes out..

Nope I'm getting an XBOX 360 out of spite, besides one chav machine will be enough in my house for the time being
£550......f**k that...how is this machine going to be worth two XBOX 360's?. The machine will die on it's arse...Dreamcast style if it doesn't watch itself.
Plus I know Sony, everything new they release has faults, and remember there were about 11 versions of the PS2, and even the latest slimline version has overheating problems. Not wise to rush out and buy one just yet, especially when it won't even last a year. Besides they'll be even harder to get hold of than the 360 was at first. £550 plus £60 a for a game, which no doubt will just be an updated version of a PS2 game or a sequel......no chance of me getting one as things stand.
I'm looking forward to the Nintendo Wii to be honest, most of the Japanese are too which is always a good sign.
ps. I'm also willing to accept donations.

I already got a PS2, PSP, and XBox. I will wait for a year or so after the release of the PS3 to purchase it. There's no rush because you can play all the PS1 and PS2 games on it anyway. Too many people get caught up in the initial buzz and excitement then end up spending alot more than they should.
Sony are jokers cos every minute they change the specifications of a soon to be released product, then when it is finally released it has so much technical faults that you just want to return it.
The same thing is happening with the latest TomTom satnavs right now.
No way I'm spending over half a grand for a games console when it will be worth £200 less in a few months after its release anyway.

| And scratch anything from wack ass Nintendo. Even the name alone is stupid....how they went from Revolution to Wii I don't know. Yup I am going to wait and buy it second hand same way I did with my ps2, had it for more than 2 years.. it even outlasted my friends new one which broke down a year and half later after purchase.
I think it will take a while for developers to really tap into the real power of ps3, to create a greate game.. same thing that happened with GTA St Andreas.
One game I can't wait for is ISS6, it doesn't need to be rushed at all, I will gladly wait for it.

Doubt I'll get one at all now, certainly going to be 60 to 70 plus quid for a game. Ha ha, they're having a laugh. Considering all the sh*t games and sequels that keep getting released thesedays and it's obvious that trend will continue with the PS3 since pubishers don't like to back games that are at the more creative end of the spectrum because consumers simply don't buy them no matter how good they are. God bless EA for that. Plus I'd get my arse seriously handed to me for paying that much for a game, I wouldn't be able to justify it.

Wow, I am quite lonely here. I considered to preorder PS3. Cause I got the money, although it will off course hurt to pay so much for it. It's hard though because I want to upgrade my computer. so that I can play say Medieval Total War 2 and Oblivion as good as possible (it has to do with eceonomics of course.
Either way I am not sure anymore. Has anybody seen the preview of KillZone 2. It looked damn fine. Although the word on streets is that they prerendered it or something.
Isn't it about time the brothers here started to play online or something , just to build som bridges (I know that Parris anda few others play Halo online). I just downloaded a demo of Dawn of War (quite old game, but good none the less). An awesome game I must say , check it out. Fun as hell.

Actually the latest PS2 magazine claims the official price will be £425, which is still pricey. Saying that, it's better than buying a blu-player which will cost a lot more when they're released in the near future. At least you're getting a games console as well as next generation dvd player.
It's not a big issue to some, but one thing the PS3 controllers won't have is vibration because of the motion sensors. It's a shame cos I like that function and it adds to the excitement especially with shoot 'em ups and racing games.
But the price of games is one of the main reasons why I'll hold back on purchasing it straight away. The PS2 already has several yet to be released titles coming out to keep me preoccupied until the PS3 and its games come down in price.

as much as my son wants one bwoy he can wait his silver ps2 is 3 years old and no probs with it. He wanted a psp when they first came out and i made him wait ive just bought him one today for his birthday in 2 weeks time.
as my parents used to "say you can only play wid one ting at a time" Keep your money in your pockets till price is more realistic sounding to you.
