Does any know what makes this condition get worse and what can a person do to improve it?

Hey i have been waiting to see if anyone has given u any advice on astigmatism seen as though i have astigmatism in my left eye. I have been wearing glasses from since the age of 3 and now I am 23 years old. I had surgey on my eye when i was about 5years old, I was actually born with astigmatism in both eyes but now it appears to be mainly in one eye the surgery and wearing glasses looking back on how i was when i was a litttle girl has helped alot for me. I wanted to try having surgery again on my left eye seen as though it affects my confidence a lot but i was told by an eye specialist that i should not do it again as my eyes are not bad and i could make the little bit of astigmatism a lot worse than how it is now. My sister always tell me that there is nothng wrong with my eyes but i can see it slightly. I have heard that eye exercise really helps alot i would go for that if i could, i try to do alot of close up reading with my glasses off so that i can train the muscles in my left eye to move as well as my right.i also read on the internet that wearing glasses to correct these conditions can actually make the condition worse as it makes the eye lazy and if the condition is left on its own it would improve by itself but anyway who knows what to believe.

I hope i have been of some help to u and hope that both of us would get some replies very soon.:)

I was also born with the condition and it was meant to be corrected from a very young ageunfortunately it wasn't. I should have started wearing glasses at very young age instead of the 8 years of age which I did. By the time the nerves connecting my eyes with my brain had fully developed with the brain being used to imperfect visions.
Hence now even with prescritption glasses I am still very short sighted.
Infact when I was at university my eyes were so bad that i could not read what was being written on the board so i heard to imagine what the lecturer was writing based on what he was saying quite an interesting skill. Never the less thank God i managed to pass my degree with honours.
Hoeveer being short sighted attracts alot of prejudice especially from the white people.
A combination of black skin with physical imperfection can be an unphill struggle but however it only benefit you because you tend to develop unusual skills in terms of perception of things. That is you really do not need to look to see things. I only need a glimpse of something and i can see alot more than what people with perfect eyes can see.
But that is life it shouyldn;t concern you much about what people think or how people perceive you end of the day they themselves have not got a clue although how people perceive you could act as a barrier if you want to progress in life and those people hold the keys doors of that progress.
