Actually you can tell steroid muscle - it's almost as obvious as fake tits. The muscle is usually too perfect, too full and round.   

Not to mention huge. 

You can achieve the same look as the bros in the photos by good non-steroid supplements. Like crreatine and meal replacement protein powders.  

These brothers are not excesssively muscled with minimal bodyfat.  So I doubt they're on steroids.

Plus many Black men look like this with almost no weight training.  

You can get steroid like results by clever training. For example I'm trying improve traps develoment at the mo. So I train them every five days. But I train the muscles surrounding the traps (like the shoulders rhomboid, rear delts, lower traps) on rotation each gym visit.  

I train these hard with many sets and reps because they are slow twitch muscles and take more time to fatigue.  

I don't go super heavy on exercises for these body parts, the emphasis is on form and burn. I do this for about a month and won't touch traps again for another month.  

I'm laying off cardio - and increasing my calories - especially protein.  

Voila!  

Couple more cycles and I will have achieved no neck status.
