Parents are to blame, period.  Most fat kids tend to have fat parents, see a pattern? They know nothing about cooking or healthy eating, all they know is take away.  If the child is fat due to a medical condition, ur not gonna wait till they get to that size before saying "oh I think u need to see a dr, because ur getting too big" they bloody passed that stage long time! So again the parents would be to blame for the state of their child.  Parents who bribe their kids with sweets and chocolates need to be shot, there are other ways to reward/discipline ur child.  Parents who are putting sweet drinks like ribena in their babies bottles are setting them up to be unhealthy kids, and possibly unhealthy adults.  And it's these same people that wonder why their kids have no teeth at the age of 7, or don't see anything wrong with buying size 14 clothes for a 10yr old.  Makes me sick

@Facetygirl

I agree with you.  I remember watching a chat show in America and it was overweight babies very sad to see and not all the parents were overweight some were slim but had a very bad notion that the more they feed their babies shows everyone how much they love and provide for their babies.....extremely sick isn't it?

When you see an overwieght child to me that is no other reason but the parents are too damn lazy to do the right thing and provide healthy meals.  In my home my child can't dictate to me what I buy when I go shopping and my child depends on me to provide food so the ball is in my court so to speak.

Too many kids sat infront of computer games and not doing playful exercise don't help the situation as well. It all boils down to laziness if you ask me.

You know...could this overweight epidemic be what God says that in the last days, there will be lack of self-control? Clearly, all these overweight folks (including myself) have not mastered the self-control thing. Blame it on, TV, feeding images of food down our throats everyday (literally)..blame it on us sitting in front of the TV, playing video games, on our computers blktype and thinking of food as a reward and a leisure. There are people that eat more when they are under stress. Stress is a problem for millions of people. Also, I know several parents that feed their children just to get them to settle down and or stop crying. Don't forget the biggie size portions. We eat, in one sitting, portions that are enough to feed us for an entire day (look at the calorie intake on McDonald's or Jack in the Box). Anyway, I pray that I and others see this for what is is....another attempt by the devil (or anti-phi or negative forces for those that don't believe in the devil) to rob us of life by luring us with our weaknesses ( ie...all you can eat buffets , free food and ramen noodles for college students!!!)

[That's a picture of olympic runners, below. I put it on here to inspire us to get healthy!!!!!]

i am overweight per se but i dont lack self control. i know what my limits are. plus for me i just need to increase my weekly exercise. power walking everywhere just doesnt do it esp when your bidy is used to that.

those olympic runners dont inspire at all. to much bulging muscles. looking fit does not equal good health. people just need to eat the right foods and some just in moderation.

as for kids some parents just need to learn to say no

Some people are just naturally heavier. I have a friend that eats like a bird and is 350lb. Metabolism has a lot to do with it. There are lots of other things that contribute to weight gain. Educating one-self is the best way to lose the weight. The more you know...the more likely you are to lose the weight. For example. I love eggs. But, when I found out that one egg is equal to your whole cholesterol intake for one day. I stopped eating them. Growing up, I used to eat 3 eggs for breakfast! Not to mention the omelets from IHOP. They taste good but they are bad for me. All things in moderation and increase bodily activity. Exercise actually increases your good cholesterol (HDL) and lowers your bad cholesterol (LDL)! I did not know this before! So educating yourself and seeking help from consultants can really help one lose weight. I have lost about 20 lbs since I started my new lifestyle!

I playfully put the photo of the Olympic runners up because they are fine to me and there endurance and hard work inspires me. I thought the pic would inspires someone else out there too, regardless of if it's one or two folks :)

Blaqguh:

The only think that picture did for me was inspire me to consider steroids if I ever wanted to get in that kind of shape.

Come on...you know them cats are juicin'

Just Me:

I think the problem is lack of exercise like you say; but also it has a lot to do with the chemicals and preservatives being put into food...especially fast food... now a dayz.

If they pump chemicals in meat to preserve it, instict should tell us that those preservatives are gonna make it harder for our bodies to break that meat down.
