Im Hotep,
What do you think is more effective in building the thighs (front thigh muscle), squats or legpress?

I'm FAR from being an expert on this (as my name might suggest)...but i'd say squats...
first of all, squats are meant to be a core exercise..meaning you should try and incorporate it into some part of your regime
secondly, with squats you are directly working against gravity..so added effort needed..
thirdly, squats are more natural than leg presses....you more likely to be in the squat position than in the leg press position in your everyday activities/sports...which means they'll give you more strength/power for these activities
thats just my two cents...as i say...the above may be total bs..it's just what (i think) i know..
Peace

Squats can be done at any location and mild weather such as outdoors indoors etc.
Leg presses are bound to equipment I presume and you will have to prepare yourself to get there (gym, maybe traffic, family matters), be there (if machine is available, looking at the clock for time, etc) and get back (traffic, getting sleepy, etc) from there which can shave your joy in what you want to achieve.
Me neither I am no expert on these matters.

Definitely squats. I can squat over 400 lbs, but when I go to the leg press, I can do more than twice as much. Leg press is easy, and on a track. You don't have to use all the fibers of the muscle throughout the movement to stabilize the weight. In fact, you don't stabilize the weight at all, the track of the machine does it for you. I try to stay away from machines as much as possible, and stick to free weights.

| I noticed that I can press a whoooole lot more than I can squat, too. I have a pretty good machine at home that I can do legpress on, but I guess the consensus is that good old fashioned squats are the best.
