Much depends on your needs. I personally think they are fantastic.
Rowing is the most demanding physical sport bar none. It makes good use of both your upper body and your lower body and there is no sport that I can think of that demands so much strength and fitness at the same time.
If you want a good overall workout, next to swimming, then rowing is where it is at. To put this sport into context,[in an official race] its like running a 100m sprint, flat out except it is done at the same 100m pace but for 2000mts.
As a part of a daily or weekly routine, once the technique is mastered and done correctly, it can be very effective at getting you fit and keeping you fit.
If you choose to mix it with something like running, cycling or a sport like football,, give yourself about 12-16wks and your mates will not know where you are coming from.
It will work your heart and your lungs and give your legs the sort of endurance training that makes a 90min game easier to deal with.
The machines are not cheap,, Concept have all but cornered the market. Although other people make machines, it is a Concept that you will find in most gyms and most if not all official races.
They can be stored at home as they are collaspable.. if you get one, go for a model C or the newest model D... good luck.. if you need any help towards programs that are effective on these machine, drop us a line and I will be more than happy to help..

No, seriously, I know it may sound like that but, I am just a passionate user and have no connection with Concept,, I use to compete at an International level and just love the machine as its made such a difference to myself in terms of my own personal goals..
