Has anyone heard about doctors giving patients of different ethnicities different dosages of medicines?
I read about this in a newspaper, a woman wrote a letter saying how her doctor gave her a higher dose of prozac because black people are more prone to depression. In letter she said that she was shocked, to be told this, me reading it found it shocking also. But the doctor who replied to the letter(Miriam Stoppard)was saying that it was legal for the doctor to do this, and how various studies showed that different ethnic groups responded to medication differently.
I think doctors doing this is completely wrong, as a doctor may take this info and see it as an accuse to treat all balck people the same rather than individuals.

you know wot rude gal, this doesn't surprise me at all. too many ppl take doctors' advice like it's gold nugget dropping off their tongue. they don't know everything. i sure as hell don't truss them now.
i went to the doc a while back, this was a new doc, french, opposed to my original doc who was english, they were both white, but anyways...i was worried a bout this rash i had so i asked him wot it could be and he was like he doesn't know. now my original doc would have looked in a book to confirm a notion, ask for a second opinion (coz der were other docs of course) or refer me 2 a dermatologist; but dis fecking pig practically laughed at me like i was a raving hypochondriac.
eventually a nurse came by and i asked her wot she thought and said she didn't know but maybe i should c a dermatologist. when she'd gone the doc weren't having any of it. he made a prescription for some cream, even though he didn't know wot the rash was, and i know that skin creams often have steroids in them which can make the rash worse.
(made me even more mad when he started talking in french to another doc and laughing, not knowing that i could understand wot d b**tard was saying.)
i told him i wasn't sure i should take it for this reason and he basicallysaid i'm in dis country and i should do wot he say and abide by the rules. i couldn't believe d cheek! he was the immigrant, i was born in england (but note, i don't claim2 b english, just entitled to the same rights and f u c k i n g respect).
i was too shocked to retaliate i just walked out and never used the cream.
u see, dis is the reason why we need more conscious black people as doctors. when certain ppl get into a high position in society they often use it to abuse/take advantage of people.
