It f*cks up the lining of your intestines and Colon causing a myriad of health problems from indigestion to malnutrition to Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
I figured since I like so many of our people was allergic to cow's milk, Soy milk would be a good alternative.
I was wrong.
Just like regular milk, it wasn't until I started having stomach problems did God reveal to me that Soy milk may be the culprit. Especially when it's steamed and used in popular cafe drinks.
I stopped drinking it and my health has been improving ever since.
Although I couldn't find anything against it in health books I decided to research it on the internet and found a growing community of people who had the same experiences I had from drinking Soy milk.
I also found out that not only may prolong use lead to the ruining your digestive track by killing the natural bacteria inside allowing an over-growth of yeast.....but it also causes gastro-intestinal cancer!

Did the research you came across indicate what other contributing factors there may have been to the way your body reacted to the milk? We use Soya because cow's milk is not good for us but none of us have had any problems with it as yet.
I don't want to go back to using cow's milk. That's something that doesn't agree with us and brings up all kinds of gunk in your system a day after using it. Any suggestions on alternatives?

This is interesting. Probably the reason why I usually end up with stomach ache whenever I have a drink in a cafe. Are there any links to back this up?

http://www.soya.be/history-of-soy-milk.php
http://www.mercola.com/2000/jan/9/truth_about_soy.htm There's a lot of information on the negative aspects of Soy but this article I found to also raise the point of how much we use. Interesting but confusing.

Thanks for the links. I read the articles and I'm convinced that I have soy allergy. The last time I visited a cafe I had just a cup of tea and I felt terrible afterwards. My stomach was hurting and I felt really weird.
I'm going to stay away from soy.

| @Precious Stone: Did the cafe claim to have used soya milk though? I thought they just use cows milk.

| I'm not sure what milk they used but I have a feeling it was soya milk. Even from the start, the tea didn't taste like your usually cup of tea. The next time I visit I'll enquire as to the type of milk they use.

First, thanx for providing those links.
Some of the articles I read make a distinction between the fermented and un-fermented soy products with the amount of toxins they contain.
From what I understand, soybeans are poisonous by nature and they have to go through a certain treatement process to remove these poisions.
We may not tolerate cow's milk and are allergic to but soy in many cases is down right POISON to our system but works much slowly.
The most I got from cow's milk was a little upset stomach and a nagging cough; but this crap almost turned my guts inside out after about 6 or 7 months.
I don't think it's an accident that East Asians are the worlds largest soy eaters and they also have the world's largest rate of stomach cancer.
In terms of amount, perhaps I was drinking too much because I was going to cafes and drinking 2 and 3 cups of the sh*t mixed with coffee.
Plus the fact that the soy milk had to be steamed rather than drinked cold may have made a difference.
Regardless, I don't think soy milk is fit for human consumption no matter how it's prepared.
Precious
You're stomach ache could have been cause by both soy and cow's milk; both upset my stomach.
Cow's milk you feel almost immediately or a couple hours after you drink it, but it takes a few weeks to notice problems after consuming soy milk.
The biggest problem in trying to pinpoint an allergy is not knowing when or what symptoms to look for.
Many people mistakingly believe that the ONLY symptoms milk allergies produce are in the stomach, they don't understand that milk can also give you colds, bronchitis, depression, and a lot of other problems.
Allergies effect the entire body and it may take days or weeks before you notice symptoms.

could it not just be that you are allergic soy milk, rather than there being something wrong with soy milk itself making it bad for people.

| Maybe you should drink goats milk. It's much more healthier than cow's milk and all those other milks. Plus it causes less problems in individuals.

Yeah soy milk is good for me. I'm not sure why it would cause any trouble for others.
Yeah cow's milk is lethal to my stomach. As soon as I consume something with cow's milk in it, I run straight to the bathroom. (sorry if i'm telling too much information, but it's the truth. )

There are some people who are allergic to soy milk. A few years ago I caught on to the hype about soy milk and decided to substitute cow's milk for it. It was ok at first but then after a whle I started getting severe chest pain each time after I had had taken some. I stopped for a while thinking that maybe I just had a bad batch. When I started again the same pain and hoarseness in my chest returned. Even after I had had a soy yogurt or some other soy product I would get the same thing. Obviously I have now decided that soy is not for me and I am happy drinking cow's milk with my cereal and tea when I drink it.

I think cow's milk being bad for black people is a myth as it only applies to some and not all. My sister's husband is lactose intolerant and consequently their four children always get ill when ever they have milk and so to course they do not have it at all. My sister sharing the same bloodline as me has no problems with milk and she is the only person who has it in their house.
I am not sure about the effects of soya on other people but if you are really worried after reading the initial post maybe you need to stop drinking any kind of milk altogether. Or perhaps you could try stuff like rice milk.

My stomach cannot handle cow's milk, and I don't like the taste of soy milk.
Anybody tried almond milk?

I drink soy milk because cow's milk doesn't agree with me all of a sudden in the last few years, I haven't had any adverse problems with it, and now I'm used to the tatse.
But I like the sound of Almond milk, my only worry is that it may be high is fat though.

Here is some information.
I haven't managed to find where you can buy it from, but I'm sure they sell it in some supermarkets.
Almond milk is a milky drink made from ground almonds. Unlike animal milk, almond milk contains no cholesterol or lactose and can be used as a substitute for animal milk in many recipes.
Historically, almond milk was also called amygdalate. It was consumed over a region stretching from the Iberian Peninsula to East Asia. In the middle ages, almond milk was known in both the Islamic world and Christendom, where its vegan composition made it suitable for consumption during Lent. The Viandier by Taillevent, a 14th century cookbook by the chef to the French kings Charles V and Charles VI, contains a recipe for almond milk. Before the influx of Mainland Chinese after the Chinese Civil War, almond milk was more commonplace in Taiwan than soy milk.
Commercial almond milk products come in plain, vanilla, or chocolate flavours. They are often enriched with vitamins. It can also be made at home by combining ground almonds with water in a blender. Vanilla flavouring and sweetener can be added.

I like the sound of the almond milk. Cows milk doesn't really bother me, mainly cos I don't have it very often. I doubt I even have it once a month if i'm honest. It's never in my house cos my mum is lactose intolerant and my stapfather is allergic to dairy products.
A friend of mine swears by rice milk but i hadnt even heard of it. Anyone here tried it?

No I haven't had rice milk but I have heard of it, it doesn't sound appetizing though, but worth a try none the less. I'm off the health food store at the weekend to get almond milk, I think i'll get a small rice milk and try them both.
***weird thing is that I've always heard that soy milk was good for women*** oh well

Rueben - some of the plants/roots of the caribbean are not native and were actually brought over from Africa - the names may have changed e.g aloe vera is now syngle bible but it highlights the importance of handing down remedies form our elders.
A friend of mine had an aunt die for them to realise nobody knows the recipe to the cake she made for all to enjoy. The west has made us lazy to the cost of our health and without your health you are no good to anybody. I was never really a healthy eater but this IBS has set me back a few years. It saps my energy and makes me feel extreely lethargic, the slightest little thing seems like a huge effort.
The gut is the centre of the nervous system, if that isn't right nothing is right, don't get caught in babylons disaster and chuck that damned microwave oven! Milk is bad enough much more milk heated in one of those....we are now so lazy we even givie it to our newborns. If I eat out, I'd rather have the food cold than reheated in a microwave.
