I am currently in a state of depression after being quoted nearly £800 for a couple of white fillings and a couple of crowns. What I don't understand is how I can be paying my tax and my national insurance for so many years and still I must pay to have my teeth seen to??? If I do not get my teeth sorted they will drop out will they not? This is not a luxury that I opt not to have done!
My teeth is a part of my health and if I am entitled to free healthcare on the National Health Service I should be entitled to have one white filling for less than the £80 it is gonna cost me.
What really burns me is the fact that when I was moaning about it to my colleague from India, he said that I could go over there and get all I need done for £15-£20 at any of the best dental hospitals. At this moment the CEO of our company comes over and I repeat my whinge to him and repeat what my Indian colleague has told me. He tells me that coincidentally he had also been to the dentist recently and had to pay a similar amount to what I'm gonna have to pay.
Now this man must be on about 10 times my salary but me and him are paying the same money??? WTF??!! How can this be fair?? I am not using up my NHS entitlement by going to the doctor every minute and frequently having operations so I cannot see why people like me should have to fork out when they need dental treatment.
I have been told by the dentist that as long as I continue to consume sugar - and although I practise good dental hygiene I do have a very high sugar diet - my teeth will get cavities. BUT I CANNOT GIVE UP CHOCOLATE OR SUGAR IN ANY FORM!!!!!
Has anyone had to pay more than £800 for dental treatment?
Please someone say yes so I can feel a bit more fortunate...

Hell, if you have no teeth....how can you eat properly to maintain your health?

They know there is a dentist shortage so they can take liberties...
The amount they charge is a frigging joke. Don't be rushed into going to one of those dodgy east european fellows with flaky certificate on the wall though... You need a proper person to do your teeth... Think of the consequences...
Oh and stop eating sweets!
