you can use most oils. at the moment i use olive oil and hemp seed oil, which has a very high essential fatty acid/omega 3+6 concentration. i wudnt reccomend a sunflower oil though, because its a processed oil.. the oil should be cold pressed.. u can use VIRGIN cocunut oil, shea butter, olive oil, castor oil, walnut oil etc..  if anyone else is trying this out, post feedback.

What we are doing is steaming your face as an esthetician would, but without the steam machine. You want to open your pores. This helps release any impurities from deep within your pores.
  • As the washcloth begins to cool, gently wipe the oil and dirt away. This will also help remove any dead skin cells that are stubbornly clinging on.
  • Rinse the washcloth out in hot water and wipe away any remaining impurities. You may have to do this two or three times more to remove any remaining dirt and oil residue, but it will come off leaving your skin with a beautiful, healthy glow. No additional cleansing is necessary.
  • After you have rinsed well, you can either splash your face with cool water to help tone and close your pores, or if your face feels tight, you can moisturize.
  • If your skin feels tight, take a tiny drop of your EVOO/CO, rub it between your clean, damp palms and pat it into your damp skin. Massage any oil residue into your skin so there is no film of oil left sitting on the surface. Being prone to breakouts, myself, I've found that this is perhaps the most important step.

So, is it only at the end you apply the oil? The way how I've read that, you clean/wash your face with water only, that just massage "a tiny drop" of oil at the end. At what point exactly does the oil "cleanse" your face?

I'm also thinking about how practical it is to use this method to clean off makeup...

u massage the oil in for about 2-5 minutes over dirt/ makeup.. massage it in thoroughly, and then use a terry cloth.. try it out and see how it works for you.. it really does work

Your skin should glow now.

I don't use oil to wash my face so this very interesting to know..but I do use olive oil or almond oil to cream my face every morning.. I mix it with cocca butter and have been using it for over a year now.. My skin has a wonderful glow to it, any blackheads or marks I get, have ever got have disappeared. I remember using Olive Oil on my son when he was born til he was two.. his skin has been perfect ever since..

My friends and family have asked me if it causes buildup in my skin, and it never has. It's less greasy than using other so called creams, and like I say .. skin never looked or felt better..

If anyone has a natural exfoliator remedy they can recommend I'd appreciate it.. I currently use those ones with granules in them, but am not 100% happy with the fact they are processed etc.. and not 100% au natural.

1 part apple cider vinegar, 1 part water..on a cotton ball...just wipe and then u can rinse with water...the a.c.v.  is strong so u may have to use more water..

or

epsom salt...put some in ur hand and let the water drip from faucet until salt is wet and rub on face..

u can use baking soda like this also..

This is excellent information.  I never thought about the external benefits of these oils, but I drink flax seed and fish oils every day.  I used viatamin e oils on blemishes.  I am going to look into this as i am studying holistic health and add any other information I find thanks.

yeah.. you buy them separately and then mix them.. you might not need castor oil though unless your skin is very oild, as it can dry out your skin.

Basically am just trying to find the answers to two questions

1. Do you use the oil cleansing method

2. Has it caused your skin to breakout.

i started with the method on tuesday (31/5/05). Everyone has been commenting on my 'glow'.

But ever since i can remeber i've always had heat rash, but my skin is 90% smoothe though. my method is

1. Wet me face

2. apply pure 100% virgin oil

3. carry on rinising my washcloth, after i have wiped the oil off my face so that its getting rid of the dirt/oil

4. then apply a gush of clod water (if i can b bothered)

5. apply cream

but i know that the cream i'm using  is messing me up. i dont like to use e45, clarins brings me up in spots, clinique makes my face feel dry. but that garnier in the green tube is bad! but i've run out so for now i'm just using nivea which is bad cos it has perfum in it and everything.

But i'll come back to this thread and see how my face turns out.

stop using the apple cider, if you're using ur wash cloth to make sure everythng has gone then there is no need for that. i swear vinegar is acidic anyways??

also make sure your pillow case is clean!! cos that can bring u up in rashes as well

Castor oil is great.  My mom has awesome skin, flawless, seldom get a pimple.  She washes her face nightly, apply peroxide with cotton ball, then apply castor oil for moisture (she now like Mary Kay emoillent night cream).  She believes less is more and not all those harsh products. She's in her late 50's and looks at least 10 years younger but then again most black women age gracefully. Mom mixes a little castor oil in her cleanser.  It helps to keep your skin moist. Also, apply a moisturizer underneathe your makeup.  My grans dtill uses castor oil or mineral oil on her skin and hair.

Castor oil has tons of uses---if you have a chest cold take a tsp, it breaks up the snot in the chest.  You'll have a case of the runs but will feel 110% better the next day--grannie remedy.

I had these 4 little mole cluster under my right  eye on the upper check area (not as many as Morgan Freeman) but I appled castor oil to them every night and they eventually feel off, however, you have to keep using the castor oil or the moles will return.

As someone stated olive oil is great for hair.  We used it as a hot oil conditioner.  Joboba oil is good also by itself or I like shae butter mixed with jobabo oil.

I think it's better to take oils like olive, hemp seed and flax seed oil internally, you'll notice much more of a difference. I especially like flax seed oil, it has a nutty taste and you can put it on salads like olive oil. niceone.gif

]You can get peroxide at your local drugstore or pharmacy.  It' rather cheap.  In the US it's less than $1.00.  It's great for sensative skin just apply a moisturizer afterwards.  It helps to remove excess dirt and bacteria from your skin.  As for eczema, my goddaughter suffers from it.  My best friend took her to numerous doctors and she's been on several creams.  My grannie recommended oatmeal baths and use of almond oil on her skin.  My mom's friend from Cameraoon suggested and recommended pure unrefined shea butter I told her and she bought some.  She says it's the best thing that has ever controled her daughter's eczema and her skin isn't all dried out and flaky.   I bought some also and love it because I have dry skin and would have to apply lotion several times throughout the day with this only in the mornings and after showers.

Hi queenbee!

I too have clusters of those moles on my face....hate them bad and have tried many things to get rid of them.  I do have castor oil so is it must a matter of dabbing those moles with the oil every night?.  How long  will it take to get rid?!!!.  What else do I need to use, please give me a routine!.  Much love and thanx.

@Patchi-- Yes, do dab the castor oil on at night. How long it takes to rid...honestly, it  just depends.  It seems like it does something to make the little clusters moveable.  One day you'll whip you face and the mole will just come off (effortless) no pain.

As for a routine--wash your face nightly, whip peroxide over your face.  Apply castor oil to your entire face and neck (as my mom does as a moisturizer) or only to the moles and use another moisturizer for your skin.  I hope this helps.

Just a quick question,

Have any of you heard of Warm Spirit products?,  they are botanical, affordable and they actually work.. If any one would like hit me on http://www.warmspirit.org.

Take a look, you may see something that catches your eye, your face will be as smooth as a baby's bottom.. I know that the facial products work extremely well because I use them.banana.gif
