Hi everyone am not really looking for any advice here am just kinda wondering how do u guys get along with ur family am not relating to parents mostly sisters, brothers and nieces and newphews. I live in the antigua which is in the caribbean and i have older much older siblings and nieces and newphews in the UK. I live here with my retired parents my brother and my sis we have lived here for about nine years we are in our twenties.

The problem is well it not really a problem the thing is when i go to the Uk to visit my family over there i dont really feel appreciated by them i walked into my brothers house and all my siblings were there who i havent seen for 2 and a half years and missed alot at yet at the same time didnt feel that they missed me by the way how they acted i was very surprised as i am a person who feels close to my family and at one point just as i got in and felt the atmosphere i blurted out "u guys are so"...........  and left it there, am wondering if its just an english ting cos i couldnt wait to see them, at one point later in the night my niece came in my room and said, she is eleven years old " you thought everyone was going to clap for u didnt u when u came.

I dont no am just wondering if maybe am just too nice for them or maybe looking for too much attention I also have a niece who is eighteen and doesnt even communicate with us like a young woman should am only 4 years older than her i think about her all the time and yet still she dont seem to bother with me or us not even a letter i should say and my nieces and newphews the majority of the the time are soooo disrespectful and there fore am unable to feel a connection with them like i want to.

I am not a selfish person but as soon as i got there and smelt the atmosphere i just moved around by myself and tried to enjoy my vacation the best way i could.I did contribute to the house work did my own shopping and plus gave him 100 pounds for five weeks which he took with open hands.

At one point i asked my newphew is it because he dont see me all the time y he dont respect us or treat me like family and he said yes i didnt get mad with him he is only saying how he feels once i accidentally pushed my little niece over she is two and her older sister who is eleven blurted out with anger " stacey u pushed her over u STUPID her mother was right in the same room when she said this to me keep in mind i am her aunty she just looked back on us and carried on doing her work without even correcting her daughter i for one was very embarrased guests were there at the time but i didnt say anything. As in the past i have slapped this girl across her face for her disrespecting me and the mother wasnt very pleased so i chose to take a deep breath cos i for one cant stand rude children.

I spoke to one of my coworkers about my vacation when i got back and he said english people dont appreciate there families.

Please tell me is this an english ting!
