I'm not sure segregated is the word... that would give the belief that there are people of color to segregate. The place is barren from culture. I live in Measham... a blip on the map. And its amazing that I have to drive 40 minutes to Nottingham (a club called Lizard Lounge isnt bad) or into Derby (Saddlegate is okay.... but im not sure if they are doing an age check at this place). Been living here for three months now after travelling back and forth for the past year. And god I hate it. Today my mission is to find a decent barber... not just some yardee who opened a store front. (Some of these barbers are horrendous.... last guy actually sprayed alcohol in my face as his finishing touch!). Going into Birmingham today.... hope i can get a decent barber there (Rumored to be the mecca for hair).
What surprises me is when i do see a brother.... (using term very loosely) and give him the universal head nod.... he just stares back. Unbelievable. (To the 'brothers in Burton-on-Trent'.... wake up!!!)

I dont know almost 99.9% of those i have given the head nod to.... its just a greeting... like "whuzzup" or "yo"
and a side note... i dont 99.9% of those i just say "Good Morning" to either.

Not a problem... this area is culturally dead... (except for a place called Normanton in Derby).
If i could move out of here I would... Swadlincote, Burton, Nuneaton, and Tamworth all the same to me... Crappy.

measham never heard of it. but leicestershire and derbyshire are not culturally dead. if you are on the derbyshire border there are many black hairdressers in derby. nottingham has many too
just because you dont like going to what you refer to as "yardie" store front barbers dont mean you need to insult people.
plus just because you nodd at someone does not mean nout. not everyone feels the need to greet strangers and just casue they look like you dont mean they need to acknowledge you.

urgh why would you even consider normanton. it is full of asians just like soho in birmingham. if you move to derby you are better off going to stenson fields alvaston littleover. not those asian ghettos. then again you may prefer normanton so you get all your asylum seekers etc so youhave that culture that you seek
so where are you from anyway and what led you to the midlands

Asian ghettos??? Aren't we all part of a minority group? Aren't you being a little bit insensitive? (Different topic for a different day, I guess)
Measham is next to Donisthopre, Woodville or the more reknowned Ashby de la Zouch. 25 minutes from Burton on Trent.
I was speaking to the quality of barbering themselves..and how anyone with intent seems to want to cut hair. NOT the yardee style shop themselves. (Been to Birmingham... twice and didnt fare much better).
Culture.... well... culture does not have to be one area with one ethnicity in common. Culture as it means to me in this case, is where there is a mixture. But I am learning in the UK, we are 95% outnumbered... so I may be wasting my time... As evident by some of the R&B clubs in Nottingham (Lizard Lounge), Derby (Saddlegate) and Burton (The Corner House).
Newflash to UK DJ's (BLUE IS NOT R&B!!!!!)

from atlanta huh, now it makes sense
in derby the clubs will be mixed unless there is bashment dance being put on and you will see black folk from all over there. birmingham i ok but .... to much vibes nottingham is great checkout the marcus garvey centre in lenton and gregories but if your not into reggae you may not like it. many places will give you a mixture

mm well coyote wild in derby has a good rnb reggae night. it is more aimed at students but know a few jamaicans who go there. the reggae is not up to date but the vibes is nice. not sure of thursday nights anywhere really.
if your ever in london you should try brixton mass on fridays cameos wednesdays
aqua lounge or ivory arch on tuesdays
i am sure there is a nightclun thats really good thurdays in notts will try to speak with my friend and get back to ya

| YO!! i have been in there... bull riding and some sort of rave music or whatever... didnt even notice the upstairs... I went to a place called Sugaz instead... (which i think is 14 years and over club)
