I'm not all dat sure if a similar post has been written, if it has I apologize if not, dat I'm apologizing in advance if I bore u while I begin 2 moan n droan bout dis but tis da onlyway I can fink 2 get dis weight of my chest, n my chest is small so da weight feels real heavy. Ok, let me get started. . .  I met dis guy thru a frend bout 3-4 months bak, n me, being a person totally @ da mercy of my emotions instantly feel 4 him hard within a few weeks of us constantly talking n meeting. Fing  is his 4 yrs older dan me, may not seem a lot, but 2 him it is cos of where he is in da education system, n where i am. Neways, moving on, we were on dis constant up-down fing, where we wld get in2 sum  argument ova a disagreement we wld arrive @ n den make up as soon as we fell out. Fing is, b4 we even got in2 da relationship, I told him dat I departed from my ex bcos he was 2 jealous, he laughed n ensured he aint like dat, however, months later his gettin vex wid me bcos he sees me chattin 2 some male, wen he knows very well dat da majority of my frends r male even b4 I met him. Dis wasn't da 1st time his done dis, accusing me of going astray, so I ended it wid him out of frustration n da stress I was feeling dat day. Fing is, even though half da time he wasnt as open wid me as I was wid him, n seemed 2 fink of sex n sex only, I missed him so much. I wld b tempted 2 call but den thought dat I sldnt wid da feeling dat it wasnt even gonna work out between us neways, even though we seemed so certain dat it wld wen we were 2gether. basically, Can I ave ur opinions?? Sld I give him anotha chance or jst move on since from my perspective I aint in da rong?? pls give ur reasons 4 woteva u fink

Looking 4ward 2 hear wot u all ave 2 say

Bless, Lady U

The only ting I got out of that statement was that ur man gets jealous when u chat to other men, and all he thinks about is sex.  So that being the case why would u wanna go back to that?  Ur lucky it's only been 3-4mths and not 3-4 years.  U seem young anyway, so u don't need to be caught up in them kinda dramas.  Let him go but tek time before u get involved with somone else, and don't be so eager to show ur feelings cos certain men will take advantage of that (should I be calling them men or boys?).

hi you sound quite young it sounds like you have a love-hate relationship and quite an emotional and heated one at that. Hey girl if all you feel is that he wants you for sex then follow your own cue and walk because it doesnt sound like his making you feel to good right now.You also made it quite clear that you dont like guys being jealous you ended your last relationship because of that so whats keeping you in this one ?blktype

sex.

In response to the last question asked in the prior post.

Sex is a strong glue. But it should only be used on two pieces that have been expertly fit together in the first place.

Whoever heard of a chair made ALL of glue?

But, that is what some relationships are. No fitting. Just all sex.

Drop him and run away.

@ Lady Unique - why cant you young people write properly????? it is soooo hard getting through whatever that was.....

since i couldnt get through the whole post and all i could get through was that your bf. who is 4 years older than you . is jealous and this is a quality you don't like. Well, my advise to you is that if you don't like the qualities in someone and that person will not or cannot change, then you have to decide if you can put up with those offending qualities.

If you can, then stay and don't complain...if you can't, then leave and don't look back....

@ Happiness
Thank you for echoing my thoughts. I can understand they having their own slang which they use among each other (that is common to all generations of youth). However, when it seems to be the 'norm' for them to communicate that way whatever the situation, it worries me. Is it saying something about the standard of education these days?
Statistics say that grades are getting higher and year on year more seem to be passing GCSE and the like. However, everywhere I look, I see such poor standard of communication I wonder how the two stack up.

This stuff is ok for the Under 18 Forum, (which I don't venture into anyway), but on the general boards, that's another thing.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooo

You cant close down the under 18s forum!!

They would all run loose over the other threads confusing us.  No I say leave them, like those threads on white women and indian women or whatever... It keeps them all contained in one place where we can choose to ignore them if we so wish

@Happiness and Backatya

clp)clp)clp)Thank you for stating that I thought it was just me finding it very painful to decipher this type of speaking which is becoming very frequent these days. Truth is after two to three lines of this type of talk I just walk away and leave it alone and if you two are stating the same then that may be a wise word to the writers of such type of broken English especially if they are seeking advice!!!!!!!!!!!

Good point about the statistics thing you wrote Backatya I also cringe at this fact and it just goes to prove that the statistics of exams passing may be getting higher but has anyone looked into the fact that this could be because the passing standards are getting lower.

Oh Lard! You guys are really showing your age.Sorry but you need to catch up with the times. Everything in this world is getting faster because of the desire for things to be faster and less time consuming.Writing in text form or slang is easier. You are acting like it is a totally different language. If look at it properly you will see that it's not that hard to Ovastand.

Why do ole grey back people resist change so much.lol

Now the standard English version for the ole Grey back people dem:).

No offense.

To Lady Unique

I would suggest that you move on because there are plenty more guys out there. If you do decide to go back with him then you have to be certain that he has changed for the better or else the relationship would just be in vain. You would then be a fool because you wouldn't have learned from your past experiences.

What a load of rubbish!

You may have a point if there was a universal accepted syntax for texting, but aside from a few commonly used short-hand characters, the majority of words are shortened to the writer's preference, which means that the meaning is not readily understandable even to others who use texting style. I have seen plenty evidence of this with youngsters in my own family who spend ages sometimes grappling with the meaning of a particular text message they received. So though it may be 'faster' for the writer to write the message, the extra time taken to decipher the meaning tends to make the whole 'easier' and 'faster' argument redundant.

Finally, age has nothing to do with 'effective communication'. What is the point of saying something in such a way that only a limited number can understand..unless that is your aim to begin with? Or unless you are actually incapable of communicating to the wider audience.

As I said before, each generation always develops it's own 'slang' . This does not however make it a 'definitive sign of the times' since in the wider world it does not become the basis for conducting the affairs of running, managing, and controlling the activities that dictate our day to day lives. Only when it does that (as in the case of computers say) can your statement about 'resisting change' have any merit.

Does that make sense, or did I use too many letters? niceone.gif

Backatya. No, you didn't use enough letters

To be fair, the media (especially advertisements) uses the shortened text form.It is a sing of the times because approximately 10 yrs you could never get away with doing a thing like that.

In my experience i  have never had a problem with not understanding shortened text.-Jah know I'm just blessed beyond measure.

Valid point though-I'm sure you have touched someones heart. No doubt the the ole Grey back crew will be on promptly to agree with you.

You have to laugh though, reading everyones comments. You all reminded me of some old people complain..Poor Lady Unique was pouring out her heart and there was Happiness and her crew moaning (when you should have been happy) about the way Lady Unique spelt her words

May God Bless all of you

Nothing wrong with complaining oh young one. If it wasn't for some of the complaining from the 'grey' ones you take such fun in ridiculing, you may never have got the luxury of a mobile phone to scramble your brains on....... :)
One more thing. Don't forget that one day you would be the one being accussed of not moving with the times ;) Let us hope that by then you have acquired the wisdom and understanding of us who now hold the fort.
