AVOID HAYS!!!!
They are a WASTE OF TIME with POOR SERVICE!!!!

The incompetant nit wits sent me from london, halfway across SURREY for a job interview that I did not fit the criteria for. They specifically told the agency that they needed someone who could drive. I can't. Well can, but don't have a licence... you get the picture lol. Anyway, I wouldn't have minded working in surrey but travelling there in the blazing heat on a journey that cost me £5.00 that I don't have to waste right about now only to find out that it was a waste of time really ticked me off (understatement of the century)
I felt kinda sorry for the woman that interveiwed me. she was clearly bewildered by why they had sent me. she said they had specifed to hays that its was essential that applicants had a drivers lience. She sort of went through the motions of telling me about the company, even gave me the damn typing test (which i passed... goodie for me  ) but I could tell she was just doing it cos she felt bad on my behalf and didn't want me o feel like a wasted day. She didn't bother asking me REAL interview questions if you get me.
Its utterly ridiculous for an agency to not match the right client with the right position. THATS THEIR JOB DAMMIT!
So yeah, I'm kinda pissed and depressed at the same time right now but trying to keep positive. Its bloody hard tho

@Soulstarr: What a waste! How incompetent is that....in fact isn't that negligent?? I hope the employer made a complaint Quality really doesn't mean much these days.
You try and keep your head up sis and don't use them anymore. I am confident you will get much better results dealing direct with employers. Just know you can do a better job at going for one you can do!

well this has always been my plan right from the start. But as much as I scour newspapers and websites, I just don't seem to be getting anywhere. Its so unfair because I'm not a lazy job hunter. I don't sit and wait for agencys and the such like to do all the hard word for me but still... nothing. 
Anyway @all, I need advice on how to approach this situation. I thought the agency would have had the common courtesy to call me and apologise for there mistake by now but surprise surprise, not even a damn email. this is beyond rude.
So my original plan was to write a letter to their head office... or should I write directly to the branch? or is there another road I should go down?

Your answer to that question .... Is it relevant to the job?
If it is not.. make reference to social settings... I dont follow group leaders, always initiate ideals that others always accept and follows.
That is just the way my interaction is with groups.. even at work ( team )
Some question at job interview is just dumb... An interviewer only only ask dumb questions if they did not prepare for the interviews.
Dont beat yourself to dumb question ..... you will get the job if your skills is relevant, presentable and you act intelligently.

Just heard that the interview has been moved forward to tomorrow at 11am, he even wanted to do the interview this morning  . This is a job i wasn't even going to apply for until 2 hours before closing and only after being encouraged by the manager of the team who's also going to do the interview. Also found out the two guys i am going up against, they both have good experience and have been working for the company for 3 and 4 years (i have only been there just a year) which could work on their behalf, but still i am going to do my very best so that even if i don't get the job now, the next time the opportunity comes again i will be on the top of his list.

Don't know really, it's not the usual type of interviews. The manager knows my abilities so there were no standard HR supplied questions so we kinda just sat and chatted over a coffee for about an hour.
This is the last stage and there are only three of us left (2 guys), one has worked for him for a few months in the past so i am thinking he's the likely option, the other is more senior but i don't think he'll get it as he kinda likes to be the star of the show and one thing the manager didn't want was anyone who thinks they are better than the next. To be quite frank i don't think i'll get it, maybe in another six months time but not now and i am not really bothered anyway, i'll miss the money thou .

Didn't get the job .
Pissed is an understatement how i am feeling right now, not for the fact that i didn't get it but because of who got it. f**king twit spent 30 minutes telling me how tough of a decision it was and how it was just between me and the guy like that's supposed to make it ok that the guy who is less qualified than me got the job.
Then he has the balls to tell me that he is considering me for six months secondment to start in flipping six months  .

One method that's good to get instant feedback is to ask, at the end of the interview;
“Is there any more information I can provide you that would help clarify any questions you may have?"
You will always get a good idea of how the interview went and where you stand in the interviewer’s mind.
