Can anyone give me any advice on getting help with sheltered housing from any independent support networks in West London for an elderly relative.
Not getting much help from council or housing trust despite my relative being in a depressive situation and although on 2 waiting Lists, (there is always a "Waiting List") no help at all, all you get is "so called" sympathy and understanding (lol).
But imagine!...a "Waiting List" for the elderly!!!. Please before my relative "closes her eyes", please she needs help NOW!!!.
Can anyone advise me?.

Good luck with this and i hope that your relative is not kept waiting much longer. I had to do this for a relative who was looking to get housing and i know what this can be like.
You have to make sure that your relative has priority in one of the areas at least that council specify or you will get no where for years. Get doctors letters and send them to them if you have not and let them know how bad the situation is making your relatives health.
Maybe your relative will need to go on the homeless
register. If they are living with somebody they could maybe take in a notice to quit to the council. They may get put into bed and breakfast this way but it could lead to them maybe getting housed quicker. This is not a route that everybody can take though or would like to see a family member go through.
Even doing all this you could be waiting at least a year or so on the waiting list. There are a lot of people in desperate situation out there all needing help and some people have been waiting for years.
Good luck though and i hope that your relative gets to have their own place soon.

Thank you for your reply rachie.
At the moment my relative is "high priority" on the waiting list. She is living with another relative (who is the tenancy holder) and who refuses to give her a letter to bring to the housing office stating that she no longer wishes my relative to live with her any longer....how wicked!...so instead it's the cruelty treatment.
What she wants my relative to do is just to walk out of the property so that it doesn't look bad on her. Nowadays you can't just make yourself homeless. If you are living with another person, to get help, the tenancy holder needs to put it in writing that they no longer wish you to reside with them any longer and she just refuses to do it!.
We have had the doctor supporting us but the housing office offered somewhere too far out of our reach in order for us to care for her and being elderly she needs all the help she can get.
As a big family we are all willing to take her in but apparently if she moves (as we are all in different boroughs) she will lose her place in the borough that she is awaiting rehousing and will need to start all over (a long process all over again!).
Anywhay what give us strength is knowing that bible prophecy is being fulfilled in Matthew 24:12, where it talks about because of the increase of lawlessness, the love of people will cool off. Definitely wickedness is being fulfilled in my family!.
"Do not be misled. God is not to be mocked. For whatever a man is sowing, this he will also reap" Galatians 6:7.
I hope my relative will be around to see this scripture fulfilled!.
Thank you racie for your support, knowing what we are going through. I will definitely keep you informed.
Much love.
Patchi xx
