Family. Listen I am doing some work and I have had a mental block and I need a musical reference. So this is primarily to my African-Caribbean family but anyone who can help...Much love.
Mansa, LadyDay and K..etc I am sure you can help...
Need the Caribbean equivalent for the West African 'Sugar Daddy' usually married men with their young mistresses who they are looking after in exchange for attention.
Back in the day in JA 'Boops' or 'Boopsie' was the popular term and there are a whole heap of tunes which talk about Boops. But I can't remember one of them right now.
Already e mail some of my people at UWI in JA but my wife reminded me you guys will probably answer faster. The wife is usless when it comes to musical memory. Just dance first and forget the names of the tunes
Much love

BP/JB it is a boops, boopsie or boopsman. That I know for a fact. Problem is I can't remember one tune and there were hundreds. You know how reggae is once something is new man run tune on it all night and day.
I know Tappa Zuckie had a big Boops tune and even Sanchez but for the life of me I can't remember them tunes or the precise name.
Mansamusa/Bredda Tekouma is the man and an ex sound system man. There was a wicked sister whose name I forgot at the minute but me and her and Le Moore got deep on a old school reggae thread. She would definitely know because sister knows her tunes..
Still waiting
