Ok guys, i need your help again.
What do you do if you live in a block of flats, and your inconsiderate noisey arse neigbours play ridiculously loud music 24-7? We've tried contacting the council (who can only help us if we speak to our housing officer who is NEVER damnwell there), and you've even resorted to calling the police (who will only help after around 10.pm IF they have the damn resources- can we say, never gonna happen!!).
So besides turning up on their doorstep with a friggin butcher knife and some wire cutters, what the hell do we do???

You might have pirate radio station up there. Call the council not the police next week and tell them. Or get your hubby and his people to handle it

The council don't do a damn thing! and neither do the police for that matter. but according to my research, i can write to m local magistrates court so i will give that a try. As for hubby, with the way people are crazy these days, its just not worth the risk. Besides, my cousin thinks he might know who the main culprit is and dude is currently up on a manslaughter charge

Sis I have the same problem with my neighbours so I went out and got a Technics sound system (needed a new one anyway) and placed the speakere next to the wall whenever they played music (Drop by Timberland and Magoo Ft Fatman Scoop is a good tune with good base) and I turned the volume up to the volume that didn't shake my house too much. I do not have a problem anymore. It's almost like conditioning. Whenever they hear my music start playing theirs promptly goes off. Consequently you can go here and purchase something to deal with your murderous neighbour. I am sure he won't like the look of some of these turning up at his front door whether or not he's a murderer.

Don't watch that, It was a joke. I don't expect anyone to go weilding a sword at someones doorstep. It is a problem that can usually be handled if you just speak to the person politely. I was serious about the loud speaker thing though. That is definitely a good option. I got rid of my problem that way when the neighbour wouldn't listen to reason. I guess loud soca is not to everyone's taste

Soulstarr - Have you tried presenting a diary to your local authority re:Antisocial behaviour? Cos that what it sounds like to me. But they usually require one to have logged relevant information about the nature of the incident,times,date, when you first complained; who to etc. I hope that does help
RasRuben - No, I didn't think you really meant it Funny you did make that kind of joke though, I heard of a friend of a friends mother who had similar issues with her neighbour and as Soulstarr has pointed out the L/A are slow to follow up, any way it got too much for this woman and she did apparently go round to the neighbours and put a small amount of petrol in the letter box; and lit the rag or something, she was duly arrested and I cant remember how far the situation went. But noise nuisance can definitely push somebody to insanity. Soulstarr why not find out if any other neighbours feel the same way about those particular neighbours, as a collective your complaints may go further; you can always refuse to pay your rent if they do nothing! Good luck.

Run out and buy some really crap CDs like "Heavy Metal Hits" or "The Best of Barbra Streisand" or "Uptown Yodeling with Slim Whitman", set your alarm for 4am, get up and put them on shotgun blast- eardrum split level!
Remember what they did to Noriega in Panama?
(or you can buy a white noise privacy device, it drowns out extraneous noises...)

Your concil is responsible under the 1998 Crime and Disorder Act to have mehcanism in place to tackle Anti Social Behaviour which includes noise. Public Community Safety Officers are specifically responsible under the Act and the Police Reform Act 2002 to address these issues.
So I would go to your council's web site and see who is responsible for implementing its responsibilities under section 7 of the CDA and take it from there.
I trust you do not live in some very rural area, because I would be suprised if your council did not have mechanisms in place.
