HI people,

I am seeking some recommendations about things to do in Barbados. I am staying in the St Lawrence region. I would like to know of good clubs to go to where they play RnB, sOCA, Ragga etc, the best places to eat, affordable things to do during the day etc. Also any cultural or  conscious places to go to etc. As well as advice on what not to do.

I would really appreciate it .

Thank you

@Auset. I know St James quite well but Barbados is not my fav island and I rarely stay longer outside checking old friends and doing a spot of business. But sis when it comes to info about things to do in Barbados it is one of the most organised islands and their local newspapers have the best listings of everything do do in the island and in each area.

But will e mail my Bajan buddies for you who are there and will get back to you. For example I know Oystins is a famous area for all sorts of entertainment and places to eat and all that. Had mad fun there. Barbados is a 24 hour rave and eat society so you will never have enough time.

The dos and don't are everywhere in a foreign country and Caribbean is no different espeically for a woman. Just be sensible and do the same things you would do here and you will be alright.

It is only people from advanced and large countries who are vetrands in all kinds of nastiness who suddenly think because they are in a small quaint place throw away everything they know end up getting stuffed or hurt or taken advantage of.

You have the advantage coming from a large and nasty society unless you lose your head and give it away. Don't advertise your sh*t for one. Don't go places by yourself or where there are few other tourist at odd times of the day or night. Don't let anyone talk you to going to a local or other rave away from tourist spots to see how the real people live by yourself.

Don't walk around with every penny you have bursting out of your purse. Beware of predatory males. Standard basic stuff.

There is no special breed of anything in Barbados.

Sure you will have a great time.

Will get back with the info for you in  a few or slightly more days.

Peace.

Well you have everything at your doorstep if you will be staying in the St. Lawrence area. St. Lawrence Gap is the place where all the clubs are. From Reggae (The Reggae Lodge, R & B and Soca, you have it all. There is also Club Extreme nearby, but I won't recommend it because it is usually filled with forced-riped youngsters. LOL. If you fancy a bit of caberat there is the Plantation which again is in the St. Lawrence area.

Friday night is the night to be in Oistins, where there is a massive free party for all at the beach and you get your food and fish freshly made/fried.

You can also check out the Garrison on Saturday if you fancy a bit of horse racing. Very entertaining.

If you want some real home made cooking, check out Cave Shepherds on Broad Street from 11 o'clock, and watch your weight increase. LOL.

If you like the sea and fancy some scuba diving etc, St. James is the place to go. There are professionals who will teach you or if you just fancy being driven around in the sea, that is ok too.

I usually go there in the summer and at Christmas, so I can't wait for Xmas to come. When will you be going?

Here is a link that will give you some inside information.

You missed the Barbados Expo 06 which was held at Olympia 3 weeks ago. That would have been great for you as you would have received a wealth of information regarding the island and other things.

At the moment there are some cheap flight via Virgin to Barbados, check them out if you haven't already booked your flight.

Whatever do you, don't forget to visit Oistins on Friday nights, because you will probably end up meeting someone who you know who is on holiday as well. If always seems to happen with me, I don't see them regularly in London, but I end up seeing them in Barbados.

Have a good holiday. If you need any more info please do let me know, as I'm in constant communication with the Barbados Tourism Authority in Barbados and in London.

PS

How do you mean 'enforced their racism in the clubs'?

Most of the white people in the clubs are usually visitors to the island who are on holiday.
