do you know how to contest any you dont agree with
any advice?

Hi ladyDay
No, i havent got any "adverse" information on my file, but if you go to fool.co.uk
they give you advice.
From what i can gather, is that it stays on file "6" years after you settled the default. As for contesting it, give the CCCS a ring, free advice cccs.co.uk (?).
Do it before its too late. They can freeze all interest and charges on credit cards ect. Very good, I had to do it while i was doing my Training!

Hi LadyDay,
a few months ago one of the credit companies (I think it was equifax) were doing a free online trail where you could view your credit file. I sent off for mine and it made for interesting reading, not least of which there was an entry on one account that was just plain wrong, and there were two search that had been done a few months before that i hadn't authorised. Bex! - Anyhoo, each of the entries has its own record number, and the contact details for the company involved are usually given within your file too, so I had to write to the companies involved and state my case (there are certain standard forms you can use to do this - info about them are enclosed with your file, and I also sent in all documentation I had as 'evidence' to prove my claim) - the companies eventually accepted their entry on my records was innaccurate or not authorised (took a bit of following up in one case) and altered their records on my file (this took another reminder or two from them saying they would do it to them actually doing it!).
I don't think the free trial offer is still on, but you can send for copies of your credit files from each of the main credit agency records people (sorry, I'm a bit vague on what they're called!), but I think there are two main companies that hold most peoples credit info, and they'll both send you a paper copy of it for about a fiver, or its about fifty quid to have an online account (which is a whole lot easier and probably much quicker too as you can check they've changed your records if they agree too).

more debt collector before outsourced. but kind of
im new in my job and through it have found out many beneficial stuff. the people i speak to daily have problems financially and i offer an olive branch within reason, i am quite clued up on the default procedures.....
...but removing defaults i'm learning about. i found an informative site that tells how to contest to have one removed
@black aviator...im pretty clued up on the cccs debt management is not my concern right now but credit rating repair

however ive heard to steer clear of these ads that say "repair your credit rating"
apparently they charge you a fee for something you could have done yourself.

Im confused........Either you're a debt collector or you give advice on debt.

i work for a financial institution now in which i advice about money and debt.

yes money because i work in financial institution and deal with customers in debt but i dont give debt management plans just pay us back plans
@black aviator yeah i know they are scams even companies that charge a fee for debt management. all scams

The two major credit referencing agencies are Equifax and Experian.
If I remember correctly, it costs £2 to obtain a copy of your file which, by law, they must despatch within 28 days (I think).
I read somewhere that if the debt is unsecured (credit cards, catalogues etc), and you change your name by marriage or deed poll, they cannot chase you for the money......

Hello its costs 2.50, you write to them with your name address and I think three previous addresses. And you will get all the information. If there are people on the file that have nothing to do with you then you can ask to have them removed. Also if there are people say for insistance like a sister with the same surname as you, and they have bad credit. You can apply to be disassocited with them.
I got disassocaited with my inlaws because I have no fianical connection with them e.g share a bank acount etc.
If you have credit cards or loans that you have paid off that are still on the file they can also be removed.
It's simple really. Hope that helps. Equafax is a good one to use.

indian call centres are wotless at best
i called one of the company to request company info on me and they wouldnt give me any ceo details or just who i worte to demand as per data protection all info they have on me
