Ahh, poor lady swifty!

block up all visible holes with wire wool.  get some poison and lay it down for the buggers.  get some traps and then call your dad to come and take them away when the mice get caught.  they have some expensive plug in things which are meant to deter them but i've heard they dont always work. also make sure there is no rubbish around the house for long and no food left out.  put all your cereals and things like that in airtight containers.  check all your kitchen cupboards and clean them out regular just in case the mice have been in there.  check the drawers too.

the mouse probably aint in your room no more but that dont mean they arent still in the house.  its said that there are mice all over in london.  its impossible to get rid of them completely but you can only try to control them so they dont take control of your home.  they breed quick and nuff so you have to tackle this problem now before your overrun.

i seen one once in my kitchen and nearly lost my mind.  my cousin moved out of her flat lock, stock and barrel cuz of dem.

sorry for your plight man, my skin crawls just thinking about em!  urgghhhhh.

blktype Are you with any Council/Housing Association/Private Landlord/lady? Why not give them a call. If not some paste with lime apparently gets rid of them or just plain plaster - plug holes with them.

@ladi swifty why would your mother want to laugh at this?

Anyway - no your place needn't be dirty to attract rodents.

It could be that there are stuff nearby that brings them. I use  to live in a place where it was because we had overhanging bushes, (from our neighbours yard), with berries on them which attracted them. The lady had nuff fruit bushes and trees and  apparently that's one of their favourite food!

So as well as having a clean house, make sure you tidy the garden too!niceone.gif

Girl has anyone had that happen to them i no how u feel man, i hate those things i have had them in my house a few times. When i no they are around i just freak out i cant even relax and if its in my room i wont sleep in it until i no it is gone. I live with my sis and once i went to another city for two nights while she stayed at home, she called me on my little vacation where i was having fun in the middle of the night telling me how she heard this noise in the kitchen so she got up. Went to see what it was and  saw this big black rat coming through the window bobbing up on the lace. She said when it saw her it looked like it wanted to kill her. I wouldnt even sleep that night i was restless and i was in another city i packed up some rat poison to take back with me and bwoy i wasnt looking forward to going home at all.

She ran to her room and closed all the bedroom doors she could hear it rumageing through the kitchen like it owned the place she stayed in her  room for two days without eating or getting washed. I came back that same night and i was scared too man the two of us were just creeping around the house am telling you it was a nightmare am scared of mice never mind rats. We set a few rat traps and as the days went buy we got more comfortable still kept all the bedroom doors closed we wouldnt even check the bloody rat traps had to get my cousin to come up and set them and check to see if the damn thing had been caught yet.  He went into my room to check and ofcourse i stood by the door and pepped through and i noticed my curtains were pulled down and my underware was hanging out my draw and rat sh*t was on my bed so we put the rat traps in there and nothing was caught. After a few days on peeping through and seeing no more changes in my room and nothing caught in the traps yet I had to go in and tidy up because my sister was coming from england on holliday the following day so i went in and tidy up and i realised there was a hole bitten in my mosquitoe net and thats were my man had got out we even gave it a name my man. She came slept in there and we just told her to look out for my man and laughed dont think she knew what we were on about, but we knew it had finally gone out of the house.

I've only seen a mouse in my place once.  It was dead.  I have a cat.  I don't know if mice smell him or whatever, but they stay clear of this place.

You don't have to be dirty to have mice in your house.  Mice are intelligent creatures and know how to get into cabinets and chew through boxes for food.  You don't even have to be dirty to have roaches.  All you have to have is a dirty neighbor and those horrid things will be all over your house.

I feel for you mince are horrid things, when i used to live in a victorian flat that were all side by side. We had mince i called the pest control and they out the rat posion down but then they used to die under the floor boards and the house would stink bad

I would recommend checking for holes and using wire wool and expanding foam or that yellow soft itches stuff, does anyone know what thats called? That will fill the gaps and prevent them from coming in

Do keep the garden tidy and the grass low.

Good luck

Oh yeah o forgot to say that the pest control said that in old built housing that the mice run under the floor boards and when the see light and a whole that the sometimes enter so you never know you may not see another one.

lol when i saw the mouse for the first time i freaked out and called my sister i was crying totally distrort. when i called her she was reallly scared because she  thought that i was shouting theres a man in the house instead of a mouse. she was about to call the police. and the mouse was tiny. Plus i left my 2 year old daughter on the floor while i stood on the arm of the sofa. I'm so ashamed blkpoke

That's always been one of my biggest concerns about housing. Thankfully I don't have this problem where I live. In the summer it's even worse cos then you see like eight generations of the little wretches running all over the place like some family reunion.

I just hope that mouse in your bedroom doesn't meet up with a fewfine honeys (if its male) cos then you're REALLY in for some trouble. Them mice hump like there's no tomorrow and when they start breeding it's all over! I hope you have a bedside lamp so you can see where you're going in the middle of the night cos the last thing you wanna do is squish poor little Jerry.

Look on the bright side - at least you don't have a rat problem (if that ever starts to happen then LEAVE asap cos them rodents can chew through adamantium metal lol).

I was going nuts a few weeks ago...just started back to sleeping with the lights off.  Caught one in the snap trap which I baited with peanut butter and placed on top of some newspaper.  I prayed that trap would flip while I was at work because I didn't want to hear it in the middle of the night.  Once I found the hole I stuffed it with this real coarse steel wool then sealed it up.  I was so sleep deprived it was pathetic.  Everytime I heard something I'd hurl a spool of thread from my stockpile in that direction.  I was a wreck!

Ladi, I't worth talking to you neighbours and checking if they are having visits from these little pest, it maybe that one of them or mabe you have a nest somewhere.

If you can afford it, get some professionals in, a small cost for the peace of mind. If you can't afford them then you'll have to do it the cost efective way and get a load of mouse traps in.

Use peanuts, peanut butter, rice, bread, weetabix or any type of grain you have. Mice abosoutly love these, trust me, I had a MAJOUR problem with mice when I move into my flat, it works a treat.

It turned out that the cause of my trouble was the a huge nest in my neigbours ceiling made out of newspaper. there were hundreds in it!

Good luck L!

It's a myth that mice like cheese.

Back home we used to always have trouble with mice and rats, its not about being dirty these creatures go where they want to go. I remember one night I got up to get me some water and ended up dancing aroud the fattest rat I have ever seen, trying my hardset not to scream and wake up my family.  In the end we got a cat and I haven't seen or seen the traces of any rodent.

You can get poison aswell, them things will eat anything, and it doesn't kill them straight away so you probably won't see a dead mouse in your room.

Another funny story, my brother had some weed in his shanti, he went over to the main house to get something and when he came back he saw a rat running of with his Jam in its mouth, the man hit the thing soooooo hard and kill it in one lol never knew rodents like to get high.

Mice like pears so if you get traps, use a piece of pear as bait.

The sticky paper traps are quite good if you don't mind finding them alive.

Also if you're gonna use the poison pray that the mouse dies far away, otherwise you may have a hard time with dead mice stinking under your floor boards or any other hard-to-reach places where they choose to die.

Lastly, move furniture round so that the mouse holes are not hidden. Don't let it have any privacy!

Well..this is what's happened so far lol, we put some peppermint balls (or something like that) cause they're supposed 2 be allergic to them or somethin like that lol, I suggested poison but my mum said the same thing that many people in this thread have said, I haven't seen it since that day...but my mum has...in the most sickening of ways (it wasn't dead) she saw it flattening itself to squeeze under the door *eurgh* that must have looked so disgusting - An then...to top things off, we found out that the old woman next door FEEDS all of the animals, especially in her garden, she encourages foxes, stray cats an other creatures, and she apparently doesn't use the upstairs of her house, it's just abandoned an probably COATED in dust and other ..stuff - my mum said she might have a word with her, (but she might scare her) lol so she might ask the vicar down the road to talk to her. The vicar said that he would speak to his other friend to let us borrow his kitten, but my mum isn't too sure cause she knows she would want to keep it - I know EXACTLY how uniqueness feels lol omggg - I haven't slept in my room since, even though I haven't seen it, but when I saw droppings on my bed (or what I thought was) I kept thinkin I would wake up with it next to my face :(...or runnin around on the covers or somethin

To athaba lol my mum's got a very sick sense of humour lol *I don't understand her way of thinkin sometimes* lol

To black power, no I don't live alone, I live with mum and 2 bros lol

I know they like to feast on lil crumbs left lyin around an stuff so I'm extra careful to make sure there aren't any, even tho this probably won't stop em cause of all the holes an stuff lol, but just to not encourage em as much, I'm still a lil cautious going in2 my room but once I'm in there I'm fine...my friend though...she had rats...like..fully grown BLACK rats *eurgh* it came at her when she was cutting meat, I would have ..I don't even know what I would have done...seriously...lol her whole family moved house though, but...damn!

OMG!!! U lot are given me joke!!!Lady Swifti, ure anecdotes are 2 funny! An Prince Hakeem, bout mind u dont step on Jerry! Well, thats excatly what I did...Picture the scenario...Am sleeping...hard...drawing z'ds....when I hear one piece a russling a gwarn underneath my bed. So, I listen a bit longer....Im convinced its a mouse, cos I hear it squeakin 2rass!So I jump up, run out the room, down the stairs, into the kitchen, pick up 1 brush, 1 housespray, 2 biscuit and draw on my Adidas trainer for good measure.

Then I approach the stairs, steathily creeping up, all the time watching the open door to see if the mouse fly out...My plan is too startle it with spray, then lick it with the brush. I get to the top, and peer in...I hear no sound, see nothing, so I turn back round to enter the bathroom....As I do, I feel the unmistakable soft, crunch of a likkle mouse body underneath my trainer!!!

When I look down, I see the mouse finished on my carpet...I cant comprehend its dead!...I try to feed it the 2 biscuit...Sad I know...But I DID NOT MEAN TO KILL IT, even though I had the brush in my hand, I didnt really wanna kill it...just sweep it down the stairs or suttin...Well I put on one piece a bawling, right there on the stairs with broken bisciut in my hand...Suffice to say, I didnt sleep that night. I now have a cat which my mum gave me, so Im cool...Tank God fi puss!!
