I have a job interview tomorow evening (1/3/06), its a group thing and they have told me to bring something with me that describes me as a person!, I've never been on an interview like this, the woman called it an assessment. 16 other peeps will be there and I have to get up infront of them as explain why I've brought this item and how it describes me, I called my Dad last night and he told me to take a bottle of cordial to show how pleasant I am , thats not working for me. I would appreiciate any suggestions or advice from anyone who might have had one of these kind of interviews before.
I'm so nervous I hate speaking infront of a lot of strangers, but I really want this job

@ BP and Dthothej,
Thanks for the suggestions, they were both really good, especially like the money one but If I had plenty a money to spare I wouldn't be going for the job in the first place so that one is out

Hi Ras
Best of luck for your interview tomorrow, just remember they like to ask stupid questions like:
Why do you think you are suitable for this job?
What do you think your weaknesses are?
What do you think your strength are?
What skills can you bring to the company?
Do you like to drink? coz we go to the pub every Friday night and get pissed
So you will need to be a strong team player?

Take charge and show that you are not only a leader but a team player as well.
Speak slowly and clearly and make eye contact with the audience.

If it aint too late.
Take a diary or something, tell them that it helps you organise and schedule your life. This will put you across as a very methodical and organised person, which is always a plus.
To complete the illusion and to get that job, whatever you do, don't be late!

Thanks everyone, please keep them coming. The Interview is tonight at 6.30 and I've got a terrible feeling that whatever I take with me isn't going to matter because they probably won't be able to understand my accent, especially if i'm nervous

If it is not too late, why not take something from what you enjoy doing in your spare time - you can describe how it enhances your life. This could show that you are a team player if it involves other people.
Or a book you enjoyed reading - you can describe how it affected you. This will not only demonstrate that you are a keen reader - it will highlight you are willing to learn.

The interview was horrible lol, everyone there was a drama student and then there was me! But I got through it, so I was proud of myself. I took my passport with me in the end and explained how this described me, where i'm from and the adventure I'm on being over here, also how I like meeting and talking to new peeps from all over the world etc,( as it was a customer services position ) it seemed to go down well, but the funny thing is I got another job 2 days later that suited me better, so all of that for nothing!. It was an experience but not something I would like to do again. Ty all for your advice xx
