| i suppose it depends on her age and how she refers to herself. Personally, i never liked the term coloured. Isn't everyone coloured? no one is transparant. But why did you think mentioning her ethnic group would boost her profile? why was it necessary to mention it at all? You say you are not white, but i don't think you are black either so what are you? i ask as most black people would describe themselves and others as black or by their country of origin.

It is racist as you mentioned her colour.
You wouldn't had thought twice to mention the person's colour had she been white.
As for 'coloured' or 'black', for future reference, if you must, state their nationality.

I keep telling people I did not come out of my mother's womb white, then got coloured in with a felt tip pen, therefore I am not COLOURED! KMT, my advice to u is don't recommend anymore people until u have improved on ur grammar and u have learnt to use words in an appropriate manner.

| What always confuses me is that some people say coloured as they think we wil get offended at being called black. If thats the case, by the same token shouldn't white people feel offended at being called white? Or was/is being black seen as such a supposedly offensive thing to be?

Um liberty, I'm sure you meant well, but never, I mean never use the word colored to describe a black person, That's almost as worse as N****r, maybe more. I don't think you're a racist you just had a momentary lack of intelligence for a minute.

| DAAG, I dont even remember how to post anymore. Anyway Hmmm.. This is Interesting. People normally ( As I have ) Attach( I forgot how to spell) themselves to a religion a Philosophy or a certain belief system, when they announce their attatchment /normally at their most faithful point/ they become stubborn this is why when one finds that theirbelief was not based on fact we are crushed and embarrased. So hold on others decline & accept the truth. All that is said because what Im about to say will offend those attached to the words "Black & Colored" Sorry Blacknet but black and colored are legal terms Conjured up by Legislators & Colonists with the intention of seperating the free (soveriegn) from the bond (citizen). It has nothing to do with color just the legal system. To their advantage, so we should'nt take this too seriously because saying that, "White people are also colored & black."Because the term caught on we were allowed to call ourselves these names to the advantage of the Legal system thats why there is no justice or compensation for blacks, chiefly because the term holds NO legal grounds in any court of Law. Please someone tell Mumia Abu Jamal, Blacknet & The NAACP so we can see why we are failling.However we do have a name that describes our Nationality and thats (to be politically correct) MOORISH.
