A few suggestions that others might want to consider..when posting here..

  • Please make good use of paragraphs..nothing is harder to read than blocks of writing with no breaks..

  • Using capital letters throughout ones posts is not only overkill, a major turn off, it is very difficult for others to read..

  • It helps readers to follows yours thoughts if you either colour the passages you write or that your referencing from others in the same post..

  • Writing in very large font..is very cute.but it assaults the eyes of the reader and is a big turn off..plus in terms of the internet it is deemed to be shouting..

  • Using Yellow or similar clours although very pretty is almost impossible to read..
Just a few suggestions for other posters..If i've forgotten any other obvious ones please feel free to add them to this post.. I stress these are suggestions and NOT a directive Okaay!!

NuAmerica: For you Ashanti anything...when you're posting a reply the active box in which you're typing in has a range of commands spread across the top.  next to the number three you will see the word black... If you highlight the word or passage you wish to change then click the down arrow..just pick a highlighted colour and click.. That should do the trick like this..Ok

Can I also add to the list of Etiquette, that it really helps if people take the time out to spell peoples names correctly....

....... and if someone still spells your name incorrectly they must be blind or simply can't read or spell.  The correct spelling is right in front of you once is forgiveable but twice they deserve to get a whipping blkfishslapbecause that is rude and says that they had no upbringing and never went to school ha ha  or spent too much time in the gym blkdevillol

I don't know what to say Ja, other than there's something about a man with power, LOL! Although it would have been nice if he had the power to correctly guess those lotto numbers for me, hahaha!niceone.gif

P.S. Kunjufu,
I tried the instructions you gave for coloring...I typed then highlighted the area but it wouldn't work that way. It only lets me do it if I choose a color first then write in between the parenthesis. I hope that makes sense.

Do you mean for writing text in another colour if that don't work why not write the text then highlight it and then change the colour.niceone.gif

Sorry Kunjufu just read your instructions and saw thats exactly what you wrote.

NuAmerican I find the tools are just like on Microsoft word its the same principle.blkthumbsup

Yeah, that's what I mean but it doesn't work when I write the text first, then I higlight it and choose the color. If I am quoting a person, it highlights that too but doesn't change when I check it in preview. Oh geeze, I'm having such a blonde moment (even though I'm a brunette, LOL!), feel like a total doofus right now. Thanks for your assistance Mafdet. I'll keep practicing.blkhelp

There appears to be still some ambiguity in regards to Village Etiquette and Standards in terms of participations and what is and is not acceptable..... I was wondering therefore if BN Villiagers think its might a good idea to draft a few guidelines on which I  and the other moderating team could use use as guidelines in regards to the management of this forum...

I thought rather than present a whole host of thoughts my self or keeping reffering back to Admin for guidence..it might be idea to ask you the Villiages to input on these guideline.. (naturally as this is NOT my board these suggestion would need to be put to the Admin team for ratification,) but I thought this might be useful execise to avoid future confusion on do's on don't on Village life..

If you think this is a good idea please say so..equally if you think this a crappy idea say that too and why..Assuming people agree I will start of with a few directives i was handed on being made Moderator I'll leave you to suggest the rest ok!!!  I will the after a month or so collate all the ideas and contibutions and construct then into a set of guidelines for all!!

Some draft suggestions:

  1. Extreme forms of discrimination, disrespect and abuse not acceptable...
  2. Obviously porn or slackness of any kind not acceptable.
  3. Multi-posting of the same thread not acceptable.....

Please do not be hung up exact wording or spelling just talk yu talk ok...such things can be sorted later...I await the village response with interest..

@Kunjufu

I don't know about this I may have to think a little longer on it I certainly wouldn't want this site to get to a stage like big brother is watching everything you do. To be perfectly honest I can't see any problems with how things are running now and the way posters present themselves some may not be to my personal liking but it all represents the different characteristic and sides of people.

You and the BN team seem to be on the ball when it comes to threads that are highly offensive and they are usually erased within minutes of being created.

I will say that a must is to get something done about mulitiple threads created on the same subject throughout the forum....however those are usually done by those that just past through and never stick around long enough.

No I think it is a good idea because no matter what the subject is you asked for our contributions and that in itself shows good village etiquette.

I will mention one thing that I noticed......going by some of the posters names its not easy to identify who are male and who are female or who are both he he.blkbrukteet......I don't know if this is easy to do but another forum I visit has little gender icons that you have to mark when you register and when you post it comes up if you  are male or female with all your other member details......just a thought as most have made the mistake referring to someone as the wrong sex.blkthumbsup

@ kunjufu -

1) I agree with Maf, there is no need for guidelines/directives etc...what makes this site fun is that people can post what they like. things seem pretty tame here especially as compared to the old BN.

2) I do have concerns, however, with you going into lucas' post and editing it. Intervention like that should only occur when there has been repeat and/or extreme abuse/violations etc....Lucas' post was not abusive in anyway and i really do have an issue with what you did.

3) On a lighter note: I think that only people who are members should be allowed to post. I am tired of the multiple personality syndrome of our so-called "guest". If people want to join the party then let them register and post.
