how do rss feeds work? i have been hearing about them for time and have no idea
please break it down for a sista

I found this explanation on another website i visit that also supports rss feeds. I think the jist of them is, once you download the rss software, you put in the threads/topics you want to stay updated on so when someone makes a new post you get updated on it automatically. At least thats what i think it is. Not the most net literate person in the world! the explanation is below:

To take advantage of our RSS feeds, you'll need to download RSS software, typically called " feed readers" or aggregators.
When you've done this you can add popular TES services to your browser by clicking on the links below. There is also a link on the left hand column on every page. But remember, if you use our feeds you're still subject to our Terms and Conditions.

If you are using a browser like Opera you don't have to go through the hassle of downloading a rss feeder, as Opera has one built in. All you have to do is click on RSS/XML logo (on the home page of Blacknet XML) and it will ask you if you wish to subscribe; you answer yes, and all the latest feeds will be downloaded, and listed under 'Feeds' in the menu bar (Opera)
You can then click of 'Feeds' on the Opera menu (manage feeds)and edit to state how often you wish the feeds to be downloaded, and they will be downloaded automatically.
