After having a conversation with a friend i was wondering , why do ppl think that black men are more likely to date outside the race than black women (statiscal fact).

I have my suspisions, just wanted your opinions, because generally there are alot of brothas that would fall head over heels for  a JLO type etc, but not much sisters (from my experience) like those kind of men, although some obviously do.

Its seems like women generally  are more 'loyal', alot of black men would go out with asians, i know asian girls who say they get  'chatted up' by alot of black men.

Is it that men are more open minded or to extent more endoctrinated into others ideals of what is attractive.

Then some mennot only turn there backs on us but then start twisting the knife by talkin about 'the blk women' she does this and that and other women are easier crap.

i know there are alot of brothas who don't fit this category so just chill, i don't have a problem with interracial dating but at the rates its happening and our current problems as a community i don't think it progressive for our development and is quite indicative of our mentality.

I find when i say i only date black i feel i have to justify my position to those inside and outside the race, it's like theres an expectation that we must be inclusive of every1 in case we sound like extremist yet if an asian person said they only date asians ppl would respect that because they expect that and they can say its cultural and that would be understood.

There is also a perception( that i have experienced) where ppl assume taht blk men  will date outside ther race, other ppl notice e.g. with footballers etc. I find that stuff embarassing.

Someone posted the topic above in the black men forum but it was closed by a moderator. Why is this the case?

I thought this was a site that black people can discuss what is happening in our community. i must say I find this annoying for the topic to be closed.

As someone who have just joined this site i will like my opportunity to discuss the above topic because I think it is really important to give everyone a fair chance to air thier views.

Is it possible for the topic to be reinstated?

Because there is nothing more to say.

No new permutation of the topic, nothing you could think to say that hasn't been said a million times, nothing original left to add.  Nothing.  It's all been done.  Overdone.

It takes over black boards all over the net and just this once I reckon people want to be left alone without having to babble about white folk and dating them all the time.  Plenty of sites for that type of thing out there.

Also kinda against the ethos... if you get me.  If not, glance at the guidelines dude

YoGi: there is absolutely no chance that the topic you mentioned will be reinstated....Drunkmonkey has already articulated why it won't happen so I won't bother browbeat you again with those reasons...

What I will say is this...This is BLACKNET...so here's a challenge for you...is it possible to PUT our culture at the centre of your thoughts.. Is it possible for you STOP worrying about what every else thinks or does ....and Start discussions about us, about our culture and that makes people think constructively and positively about all things AFRICAN?

Its time to let go of the stereotypes and the media driven rhetoric and concentrate on all things BLACK..

So what you are saying is that I should not discuss situations that we are confronted with on a daily basis. And it ids ok to discuss some aspects of black relationship and not others. I think discussing interrracial dating is at the centre of our ''culture''as you described it above.

Yogi: three points.....

1. There is a big difference between current circumstances and culture..there is no way on EARTH that IR relationship is a part of the African culture, the fact that SOMe black people date outside of their culture, does not MAKE it the African culture that clearly does not make sense..

2. I accept that you THINK that this is a situation that you 'confront' but you also need to accept that its not a situation EVERYONE dwells on or what to DWELL on because some of us feel it  is not important to DWELL on it..

3. Most impotant point, I did not say you couldn't discuss this issue, I said you couldn't discuss it here because that is NOT the way we are going...so if you feel the need to discuss this..can I suggest you google the word interracial and make your points on IR threads specifically designed for ths purpose...

Thank you

K...

Im all for Multicultural relationships

but yes I am still trying to get my head around the point of this forum

freedom of speech yet you have limitations

It should be discussed it is a pressing issue and "Africa" is worldwide its not just about history

I seriously don't think yogi is worrying about others

Some people REALLY have an issue with IR but its high time people talk about it you cannot keep living in a bubble and secluded manner

and its good to talk about IR just incase you end up in one or become encountered with one (which is highly likely family members, or yourself)

I don't think it would take over this forum majority disagree with it anyway

ITS ALL ABOUT IR

some multicultural relationships DID exist in AFRICA and still do

Kunufunu_ mod: >>>To be honest I am confused I need it broken down for me... Why not say what people are NOT allowed to talk about rather than let them waste their time typing away when they could be looking for better answers elsewhere..

wouldn't THAT be a better idea?
