I've been browsing around these forums a for a while, although I have only made a few posts myself so far. There are a lot of intelligent and interesting comments made on various issues, and I actually like these forums in terms of the atmosphere, the mix of UK, US and other members, the way some people ("intellectual") put a lot of effort into their posts and actually discuss and debate things with each other in a grown up way, and the way other people are just honest and say it as they see it.
I am wondering what the Blacknet "policy" is on the "desirablity" of having people of other "races", skin colour etc contributing to the forum? I expect this topic has come up on this forum and others before so maybe I should go and find a thread about it, it's just that I thought there might be some kind of blacknet "mission statement" or something that already says something about this.

| Teejay i would thought it was fine but i can't speak for everyone. we were a nation of opressed peole we are not a nation a racist dictators. The issues offecting us effect all minorities so why wouldn't you have a right to speak out. As you said this sight is full of intelligent black men and women from across the world. When you say "minorities" ... whe you add all "black" "white" "latino" "arab" "indian" "chinese" people together, they are hardly a minority are they - I mean they are the *majority* really, in a "global" sense that is...
I have seen a calculation saying that there are:
1 billion "europeans"
1 billion american/latinos
1 billion africans
1 billion "asian-pacific"
1 billion arabs
1 billion chinese
1 billion indians
The first three all contain a lot of people who are "black" and the first four all contain a lot of people who are "white". There are probably a lot of people who have a certain amount of arab *and* african ancestry. There are even a fair number of Nigerians who live in Hong Kong!
...I suppose if you look at certain countries then some of these 'groups' are "minorities"...
...and I suppose the level of being "oppressed" varies from place to place as well...
Sorry I am not being very helpful...

Hi Teejay, back to the matter at hand, I feel that anyone should be able to post, as long as it is good, constructive and entertaining also enlightening and not threatening to the individual, I will say that being a board catering for black people you will expect to get an expression and discussion based around the experiences of black people. The thing is, you can choose to take offence or you can choose to listen and feel what black people are going through. I have found this board to be so vibrant with the many different types of members from all walks of life posting and sharing and expressing themselves to which we can all learn from. If you are non black to which I assume you are I will say, I personally would be delighted to see your contribution to the board in a positve and enjoyable way, and I feel you'll have a good time. We are who we are you are who you are, so lets just get on and enjoy

Interesting thread, thanks. I just signed up this week. I've been to Africa, enjoy African culture, have had a Kenyan girlfriend for over 4 years, and have friends in UK from Kenya, Nigeria, West Indies and British black. I'm white and don't want to hide it. The very first message I got on the site, within 24 hours of joing, from 'Black-power' was this, shown below:
"Why the f**k are you here?
this is a blak forum not a dating agency for white [censoredword]s like you.
nobody wants you here and I think you will find that out
so leae as its only a matter fo time before you get banned with a name like that on HERE??
f**k OFF"
*The censored word was the 'c word' that sounds like hunts.
Now I realise that there are many intelligent black people on here, and in life, and I wanted to mix, and understand, not date. I guess this guy is a one-off, but already, regrettably, I'm off. Enjoy the forum, no bitterness to those decent folks on here, but as you can imagine, I don't find this tone helps to make it, for me, a fun, leisure activity! Nite all.

what I was trying to imply that majority of white people that come here tend to indirectly have stereotypical views about us.
Thats why I like cockney boy, he does not bang on about having black woman, or black friends or the other bollocks, he is just normal

Black_power I don't have a 'fetish' and yeah, if you call somebody a c**t they are gonna be ofended! Why not wait and allow folks a chance before condemning them? If somebody comes in peace, you won't do your culture and race relations much good by being so aggressive.
Anyway, I'm not trying to start a war, and frankly I don't need this. Hope you all enjoy yourselves, and I'll stick to my girlfriend & other real life black people I know.
