House Prices in Brent Rise 300% in 10 years
Winners of house lottery
By Mira Bar-Hillel, Property Correspondent, Evening Standard
The winners and losers in the house prices lottery over the past 10 years are revealed in new research today.
It shows that north-west London has seen the biggest increases, while the south and east made the smallest gains.
Halifax researchers found a "remarkable stability" in the ranking of the boroughs by house price over a decade.
Kensington & Chelsea, Westminster, Camden, Richmond and Hammersmith & Fulham were still the five most expensive boroughs.
Barking & Dagenham and Newham remain the least expensive boroughs, although prices in Newham have nearly quadrupled over the decade, with record increases in the past five years.
Halifax Chief Economist Martin Ellis said: "Boroughs in the north-west have typically experienced the biggest price gains over the past 10 years, partly reflecting the convenience and short commuting times that these areas offer.
'The relative affordability of property has been the key factor". The biggest rise in percentage terms was Brent (up 296 per cent).

| well being a person living in brent i'll give you a lil run down on why, firslty and the most important reason is where '' brent '' is located.... it's 15/20 mins to the city centre of london, 5 mins drive to the m1 motorway which leads up north, not to mention all the diverse cultures and people who live here,we have our fair share of high rise buliding's i.e. tower blocks, estates, concrete jungles but that are slowly being demolished to make way for better housing, brent is a very fast growing borough with most business's thriving...... these are just a couple of things... there's plenty i aint mentioned and dont want to bore folks.... so adios........ pak.

From what I read yesterday is that the only borough in London with relatively cheap houses is London Borough of Barking and Dagenham
But I am sure it wont take long with govts big projects to redevelop east end
