E-commerce is at an alltime high and the growth spurt during last year's holiday sales proved it! More people than ever are willing to buy products and services on the web.
What do you think is the mindset of Minorities during this Internet spending spree? Many people do nothing more than chat and send email to friends and are missing out on an opportunity to use the Internet for spending and producing money.
Do we mistrust the Internet?

@Lifeof Egypt. Excellent issue. First I am so glad that I am alive right now to have the internet and to invest the time to see what this technology can do for me and others. The things I can do and have done in the area of business, finance and stuff is absolutely unthinkable ten years ago.
The internet is making the feild of business far more equal and easier than in anytime in my life or even future generations. So it goes without saying foward thinking and ambtious people have not and are not slow to grasp the significance of this thing. In fact the net gives black men an opportuniity we have not had before and many around me are taking it up and reaping serious rewards.
I think the issue of security or risk is not as much to do with the medium but the people in question who don't have the knowledge, intelligence or insight to what they can do, which makes the risk well worth it. So it is not the medium but the lack of business acumen and that character and instinct, drive etc which makes that deficiency.

I think one should not lose sight of the fact that for all the apparent 'money making' opportunities the Internet is perceived to hold, it is one massively competitive market place.
For anyone thinking of going down that road, particularly starting a business off on the Internet as opposed to just expanding an established business along that route, I say plan, plan, plan and then plan again. Issues such as marketing, promotion, distribution, and not to mention customers security perceptions as referred to by FredBlack, take on a whole different dimension when it comes to conducting business on the Internet.
I tell you that for every Internet business that makes money...there are thousands that hardly make a cent. Good planning, sound organisation, and of course funds are essential to making a success of your net business.
Respect

This is true; clear planning and focus is required to make money online. Not only must you have a substantial advertising budget, you must also take precaustions to make sure you are protected from credit card chargebacks and online fraudsters. If you are keen on the idea and you have done your research take a look PPC and CPM online advertising methods; if your product is great and your market is large then these methods bring huge ROI.

One concern that I had was how concerned do you need to be about extortion or bot nets destroying an online business...
Is it as prevalent as people say or is it something which is over hyped?
