| I plan to take the NY bar exam in February next year, but I want to take a review course in the US rather than in the UK. Has anyone done it already? do you know any schools or tutors in NY? Would I need a student visa if I had a one on one tutor rather than joining a school ? (the course duration is three months, which my tourist visa would cover). Any help and advise would be very much welcomed!

You must be reading my mind, I was onthe internet today just trying to find out the exact same thing, as I would prefer to go over there and do it as well. Unfortunately I was not that sucessful either. Please could you let me know if you get any replies and pass on anything you find out. I will do the same.
What you doing for yourself now? Why do you want to do the NY Bar? I have just had enough of here and would like to open windows for other opportunities.

Good luck peeps. Wish you all the best. I am glad I came across this thread as I am considering a career change (law concersion course). I get the impression from u guys that the Uk is not a good place for black lawyers???true??
Just wanted 2 give u a bit of perspective about the US. I have been involved in business here (States) for 3yrs now. It is the most depressing experience of my life. There is a superficial existence that appears very encouraging for black folk. The reality for me has been viewing segregation upfront & personal; many black americans relate to other (african / caribbean) black people in a way reminiscent of Enoch Powell, so beware. I would advise you not to believe the hype. Do your research, spend time here . Each state is different, I have been based on the East coast. Thought I would share a little insight for your consideration
Cheers
