How come a business savvy entrepreneur would be better at generating more wealth from £10,000 than the average man?

If you had £10,000 what would you do with it to increase your wealth?

Do you prefer to go the high risk stock and shares path or set up a business by borrowing and having future net wealth on returns?

Well many a person has become rich on a lot less than that. Just look at the dude who made those football flags drivers hang off their car windows - one football tornament and he became a millionaire.

I think you're really asking how quickly you can become rich starting from £10k. Well if you're feeling lucky, put it on an high odds race horse. For a guaranteed return then growing up I always said to become rich legally, you either inherit it or you pioneer a masterstroke.

As far as how long goes then timing has a lot to do with it. If you need a market to make money off then your scheme is only as good as the market you gamble on. A businessman once said he'squitting the farming industry because there's no money in it and got a response telling him to try asking Bernard Matthews that.

I guess it's simple really. One has courage and one does not. One is prepared to take risks and one is not. One immerses himself into the prescribed and accepted behaviours of everyday life and dreams about living in a beach house overlooking an amazing view. The other, works out how to get the beach house and amazing view and makes it happen. Forget the men. Go and get your own £10k...

Risk being the operative word.

Risk. Yep. But that's what we rarely do. Most of us will risk £15,000 worth of HP on a car that loses it's value the second it leaves the forecourt. Pay a third of our salary towards it every month. But, oh no, can't put the same money on a house cos, well, 'I don't want no mortgage hanging over my head.' We fritter cash away on baubles and don't invest in the things that will make our dreams a reality. People who suceed, without inherited wealth, are prepared to graft and allow the shield of their ambition to obscure the short term light of the baubles!! (The ambition also encourages them to read a book, regardless of the disdain from their peers, get up in the morning and find out what they need to do next.)

HMmmmm,

there are a number of ways to make a heap of money from "just" £10K.

1. Place it in a high yield inflation proof government bond, Bank or building society account, or even an indice tracker fund without taking it out. Then try and live another 100 years:( .

2. Go Long on the Iraq currency (as some would have us believe)

3. Invest in some professional qualifications that will increase ones earning power. blkscholar

4. Or the best yet, open up a futures account with a broker. place £7500.00 for the margin then wait until Fridays US non-farm payroll or worest yet Trichet's ECB post Interest rate decision announcement press conference, take a postion Long or Short position with maximum size per tick and hold on to the seat of your pants as the ticks roll in.............................

confused3/niceone.gif depending on which way the trade went.

I Would reccommend 3 as the doable option:)

I'd reccomend a services company rather than selling products.

Answer = Yes is is possible to become rich with a £10,000 investment.

Start a brokerage company.

Sell loans/mortgages/insurance. Prehaps a lettings/travel agency/franchise etc etc... a middle man company.

With services, 'all' you need is a reasonably good looking office with a nice sounding address/mail box. Probably couldn't start a products company with £10,000 as you'd need to buy in the products, do extensive research and marketing, equip your store and pay rent and rates... Unless you stick to the web and mail order and dropship your goods. Services all you have to do is pay rent and plan your marketing... thats after doing a course in what ever industry you're looking at, starting small and then recruiting people to work for you, even then you could have them on commission only so they're ''self employed'' so as long as you bring them business you don't need to pay them directly, without making some money first that is.

More money and less hassle in services.

Yeah Yeah... a 'service' could be classed as a 'product', we're not in the philosophy room and theres nothing tangible in services.

Theres plenty of things you could do with £10,000 but it'd be a tough haul. Could fund an invention or two and hope for the best. Whaddya say Shemsi? .lol.

*Mumbles something about pyramid marketing schemes and how £10,000 would go a long way advertising for recruits in mainstream newspapers*

Oh thanks. That sounds good. I did a Import and Export course with intention of starting my own Import and Export business but I have no idea what I want to import or export! I'm left with a qualification I've never used because I don't want to work as a clerk for a shippers which is boring as hell.

How on Gods green earth can you not know what to Import and Export!?  As ''Filter Dip.Int.Trd'' the world is your oyster!

Why not trade Pan-African wise?

Can't tell you whats going on cause my thumb is off the pulse but theres plenty you can do there. Thats what I intend to get into when I've finished doing what I'm doing now. Probably best if you start out in something you enjoy doing, something you know about... if you like clothes then trade clothes for a while, if you like phones then trade those.

Theres plenty of places on the net you can check out for contacts that goes without saying.

http://www.alibaba.com/ -  http://www.totaltrader.com/ ... as said I've been busy so I'm not on the ball but there are loads of trade portals you can check out.

Haven't started my course yet but I intend to as soon as I've gotten my first business off the ground (yawn). Been into In/Ex for quite a while but not properly as of yet.

Where did you take the course and how was it?

Sounds like you're lost for choice. .lol.

Thanks for making me feel worse than I already feel:( I just have no idea what I want to deal with. I thought about pharmaceuticals but have no experience in that area. Then I thought about trading in raw materials in Africa because I would like to live there,  but I don't know what! I'm just at a lost. So I have a qualification that I'm not using.

I studied for the ACIT with the Institute of Export and expecting to do the diploma after some years of experience.

Thats ok :)

I'm sorry, you sound like a nice person and all but I'm a bit weary of people at times.

What made you think of Pharmacuticles?

I don't trust that industry at all or the raw materials industry personally. Guess they're alright if its legit... maybe its my revolutionary mindset but there are nicer industries to get into and you really need to know your stuff to be trading those. Their drugs don't help anyone. Watch, ''Constant Gardener'' for a low down on the Pharmacuticles industry and a few documentories on Soweto for the raw materials industry. Things aint right there, some unscruplious peoples working in those arenas all too happy to rip people (mainly us) off.

Theres going to be a problem with 'those' dyam w.south africans soon. That totaltrader is one of their portals, only posted it up as a referance, should've checked the details. Bstards are like vampires. People need to wake up and see what they see in Africa before its too late... if you want to trade in drugs and what ever they're drilling from the continent its them you'll be dealing with. Just checked out the site, shouldn't have posted it.

Anyway, you're the one with the qualification. My course is sitting in my room getting cold. You should start off with something you know about and move on from there. Electrical goods prehaps.

Just keep away from w.south africans.

What made me think of pharmaceuticals was I heard about the generic market where you can get cheaper drugs but the big boys make it dificult for poorer countries to buy. But I too am weary about this whole industry. I know its very fishy.

I suppose that the obvious assumption has not been challenged!

Being rich is a relative state of mind.

Living in a developing world in a slum or village on the symbolic $1.00 a day income, having $20,000 would make one rich in monatary terms.
