@shulta: Sorry to hear that. Being a start up can be hard. Do you go to business networking events? This has been a blessing to generate contacts. Nex generation magazine may be a good place to put one of your articles in and also get in touch with http://www.efbwbo.net/ if you're interested. I'm telling you we have a bigger prescence than it may seem.

I would say to chose more than one way to get yourself out there and never doubt the power of word of mouth. To this day it is still the best form of advertising and is FREE.... Also how about sending a "tell a friend" note with your business card/flyer with your orders I've already been telling people about your products but don't have anything to give them.

I think those brand name companies who have looked down on you should get exposed.....first impressions count and if you as a general member of the public got a response like that it's not good.

When I was trying to break into travel I was shocked at how rude who ever answered the phone at Air Jamaica was. You would think that I called the womans house at midnight! That hurt because I suppose I had the expectation that this is a good company that I would like to work for. Well I called back in the hope that I would get through to someone else but nooo she was still there on the other end as miserable as she was the last time I called. Well that was that. I looked else where....anyway I'm confident you'll do ok it's early days but there are big things ahead for you sisniceone.gif!

Yes, the shampoo Bars are still curing. The reason why I put the bars on my site in the first place is due to the fact that you can be notified the moment they become available also it gives me an idea of numbers - the amount of bars I should make. I still haven't priced them up yet and won't do until they have cured.

@Maat
Thank you ever so much for the contacts and the support much appreciated!
I'm so sorry to hear about what happened to you at Air Jamaica.

When I tried to access next generation all I got was:
" This is the placeholder for domain nexgeneration.com. If you see this page after uploading site content you probably have not replaced the index.html file.

This page has been automatically generated by Plesk."

However, I will be submitting my press release to http://www.efbwbo.net
Cheers again - gotta go and post a dozen orders.

@shulta: The Air Jamaica thing wasn't too bad. That was just one person but she didn't even want to put me through to HR.....anyway some more thoughts on what/who may help are the African Caribbean Business Network and if you'd like to try Nexgeneration again the email add I have is info@nexgenerationmag.com.

On a local level have you considered targeting the mothers at schools or nurseries?

Your treats are a nice pampering:). If you don't have children but have any neice or nephews ask them when their next open evening or fun day is and see if you can deliver your workshop followed by selling your goods or just get a stand to sell the goods. It wouldn't be a one off either as they have these things all the time. At both my daughters nursery and school they always ask if we would like to go and share anything about our culture job or any interest the parents have it may work for you....

Hi ya
I was thinking about a stall in Camden 1 Sunday or Saturday per month.
I say only once a month because 80% of my current customers are from the United States and until that changes the time spent sitting at my stall would be time taken away from mixing, pouring, labelling & updating orders.
As for my niece and nephew well I was 16 years old when they were born and they are now in their late teens hitting their 20's - plus they are in Canada.
(I'm a British born Canadian made Black sista )

However, when I showed my postman the double page spread article he offered to pass some flyers around for me. So I'm working on that today (as well as packaging up orders that have come in.)
Gotta go but THANK YOU soooo very much for your support!

I've only just recently found out about your site and I loved it there! I'm hoping to put an order in if my finances permit me this week lol! I think a stall in camden would be an excellent idea and I really think you should go with it. It might seem like it would take up valuable time but I honestly think that it would benefit you in the long run. I could be wrong but isn't that how Wale Adyemi got started?
